New to modding, need help on build
I have a 2011 535i and it is the non m tech one (picture of what it looks like). I am only 17 and have some knowledge about modding. First time in Forums
Looking for advice and tips. Wanted to start by getting new wheels, converting front bumper to m5 bumper, installing rear diffuser and quad tips. On a budget though. Wondering if I get a muffler delete for like 140, quad tips for 80 and then a hamann rear diffuser for 400, would it work or am I missing something? Let me know any suggestions Last edited by RGMLT; 08-23-2018 at 05:01 PM.. |

Rear diffuser would imply that you had an m rear bumper. But as you stated you don’t have m sport package. Make sure if you are planning to add quad exhaust that you have the bumper figured out first.

IIRC the rear cover is a direct replacement M-Sport to base.

An example of my build from non M to the MSPORT rear bumper and skirts to give you an idea of what I had to do. I did not do the front since i like the 3d front spoiler. Spend sime time researching the threads here as there's so much info it's ridiculous!

In order to install the rear diffuser you would need to install the m-sport rear bumper first.. Depending on your budget this is totally do-able.
An cheaper alternative to replacing the whole front bumper would be a front lip. If it was mine and I wanted the most mods for my budget, I would do new wheels, front lip, and muffler delete. The rear bumper + hamman diffuser alone would be around $800, w/ self install - unless you bought from private sale. Great looking car and welcome to the forum |

since you mentioned Hamann diffuser i'm assuming for the non M bumper. so here's our bumper as is. for the Hamann you'll have to cut and modify the Hamann to fit. I haven't seen this done recently since the F10 has been out for quite awhile but the old school guys there was actually a post on how one member did it.
Here's the Hamann installed with that if you decide to do a muffler delete you'll need to find some quad tips. in regards to the M5 bumper if you plan on going OEM you'll need to get the M5 fenders as well as the M5 bumper is wider than the normal F10 series (528, 535, 550). if you plan on going after market stick with the M5 style front bumpers as those will line up just fine with your stock fenders. it has been noted on the aftermarket M5 front bumpers if you're planning on putting a front spoiler there have been reports of none fitting correctly since it's a M5 Style and not actually the OEM M5...keep that in mind

For the build, i plan on keeping the regular front bumper i currently have for now and maybe getting a Hamann front splitter for now. As for the rear diffuser, i have heard it is just a clip on so if you take the clips off it should come off easily. And the Hamann diffuser would fit right on, no need to have a M sport bumper. I want to get wheels very eagerly however wherever i go the cheapest deal i find with Michellin/Pirelli tires is 2000. Thinking of temporarily plastidipping my wheels gloss black and if that doesnt look nice then i will just have to figure out a way to purchase rims! Just wondering if i get the front splitter if my car will look better and lower to the ground. Lets see. Any tips on the muffler delete idea? If i get my muffler deleted and get the Hamann Diffuser with quad tip converters. Let me know.

The "diffuser" on the non-M rear bumper isn't removable; it's actually molded in to look like a diffuser. You would have to cut it out and find a way to affix the replaceable diffuser.

for the front lip I didn't care too much for the Hamann spoiler but I do love the 3D front lip for the non M. I got the carbon fiber version from Schmeidmann's paired with a PU lip which I wrapped in carbon fiber vinyl

Honestly you're better off upgrading the skirts and rear bumper to the MSPORT if you're thinking about modding the exterior. the non M is just Plain Jane! tho I went with the aggressive look with the 3d Carbon Fiber side skirt extensions and rear extensions it just looks better than the non M body style.
MSPORT Skirts painted JetBlack and 3d Carbon skirt extensions installed see how flat the non M skirts are? popular choice of diffusers is the DTM style especially with quad tips here's mine with Meisterschaft's anyways, good luck with your journey! keep us posted of the progress

your rear bumper is sick. Did it come with the Carbon Diffuser or did you pair those two up together? How much did it cost you. And the side skirt idea looks neat. How much were your side skirts painted/colourmatched

I bought the rear bumper off a forum member here for like $150. the diffuser I bought from another forum member for like the same price I think? they normally sell on ebay for like $350+. the side skirts I got off ebay for like $200 and had it painted along with the rear bumper for $300.

how can i find people on forum selling the front bumper or rear or both. Would be great because the front M sport bumper the average asking price is around 500 and paint and install is 500. Running me pretty expensive. I live in Canada please let me know if you can find a better deal thanks.

You just have to keep an eye out on the Marketplace. If not you can always use online stores or ebay

Little Update
Got my windows tinted and then plastidipped rims at home. Plasti Dipping only cost me $70. Looks great in person and good replacement until good deal on rims comes up
