Problem explained
I am so mad I can't hardly think about it. We had agreed in writing on a price plus tax, title, and license, the price of which are established by law, so the deal was flanged up. When I went to pick it up they had added on some BS fees like etching the VIN number in the windows and document preparation fees not part of the agreement. When I objected the SA turned me over to the commercial manager who tried to bulldoze me. It certainly ruined the experience. The only thing I am interested in now is getting my deposit back.

Please let other people know who these rascals are. Dealer, salesperson, etc. so nobody else orders from them. I picked my dealership and SA based on good recommendations on forums. If they do to me, what they did to you I will become their worst enemy on the forums. I will walk away like you did and charge back my credit card.

Seems to me that you might have legal recourse here.I'd contact your state's AG's office and explain the situation in detail...and make sure you have every bit of paperwork generated during the purchase process while you talk to them and hold onto them at least until this issue is resolved.
I recently had a *very* bad experience...one that suggests genuine dishonesty (as does yours)....with a dealership in Connectict (reluctant to name them...they've threatened legal action if I did) but please consider naming the offending dealership so that others can be warned. |

Waiting to my anger boils down a little
I think I will wait a while before I post their names. I do have an email from them with the quote. My feelings at this time are to conduct some sort of scorched earth policy, but I want to cool down before I do anything. It was the 5th car I would have purchased from them and the 6th BMW.

You've just given yourself some very good advice; it sounds as if you have the upper hand, especially as you have their original quote in the form of an email.
A cool head with a calm and measured approach will always get you further than table thumping - good luck. |

I would read the full Terms & Conditions of the Sales agreement already given to you with the original quote. It may state that on delivery day further charges may still be applied to complete the order of the vehicle.
However, clearly from your reaction, this may not be the case and therefore you should phone your lawyer to teach them a lesson. Best of luck, and sorry it worked out like this. It's shame that today in the UK we are seeing members celebrating with the new M Sport models but others are being conned by crafty dealers. |

Sorry that this worked like that.
Probably you know how to deal with them as you have bought 5 cars from them...

My dealer, who I have now bought 4 new BMWs from, agreed on a price on a handshake. I know that they'll tack on their stupid doc fee, but I also know that that's all they'll add on. Natch they'll try to upsell me on warranties and such crap, but I think I can resist the temptation. Of course my car has the highly undesirable manual transmission, so if I were to walk away, they'd be hurting more than me. Best of luck in this continuing nightmare. Hopefully you'll get the deposit back without too much more trouble. Calling a local TV station for their consumer advocate might help as well...

If it were me, I would walk no matter what they did to try to make amends. If you do anything else you just encourage crass salesmanship. Think of your time that they wasted. I definitely would write BMW Customer Service and complain. Then do the scorched earth approach. I would then do BMW European Delivery and save 11% off of US MSRP.
