Ordered F10 535d M Sport
After much deliberation, the deed is done and I've been assured that I'll get delivery before the UK VAT increase.
Major options: Alpine White Oyster/Black 18" Sport Auto Adaptive drive Comfort Seats (believe me, they're worth it!) Vis pack Pro sat-nav My thanks to all who helped with the Adaptive Drive questions. |

no active steering?
I have owned 5 different BMWs in the last 5 years and trust me, the 6 months when I did not have active steering (520d) were the worst in these 5 years. I hated the car at every roundabout. I really don't want to talk you into things but IMHO, drop the adaptive drive for th m-sport suspension, put a tick next to the active steering and buy yourself some non-rft tires. You will love it!! I know you are coming from a e92 with 19" wheels. BUT please remember, teh 19" on a e92 have 67mm of tire wall. compare this with the 18" of a f10, you are getting 110mm of tire wall. You are generally getting a softer ride with the f10 than with your e92 because of the additional tire wall you are getting. on top, I assume you had rfts on your e92 - this definitely did not add much to the comfort either. considering you are getting a m-sport, I assume you do want a "harder" ride than the standard SE model. With 18" and adaptive drive, half of the settings will be too soft for you.. as we call it in the german forums, you will get the mercdes benz "soft" drive feeling

Comfort seats are worth every penny...
Aside of a higher powered engine, adaptive drive and different exterior colour your car's pretty similar, though I took more comfort options as I do more m/way mileage than the twisty stuff up your neck of the woods, although I do have to admit in the week and half I've had the car it's been nice to take alternate routes that avoid the m/way where possible... |

Nice pick up, enjoy it. Good choice on all you went with. It is a very nice ride. You will be in heaven when you first step in to that cabin. Enjoy your new Ultimate Driving Machine... When I took out my 550 I was literally scared of the speed but Im over it now LOL...

It is 5.5 seconds to 60mph, and 5.7 seconds to 100 km/h.
Maximum output of the 535d is 300 hp and maximum torque is 600 Nm. Comparing this topmodel diesel to Fireman550's topmodel gasoline 550i it has the same max. torque but less max. output (300 hp vs. 408 hp). @firemann550: so you will outperform me on acceleration. But that's allright, because in the Netherlands when something is really fast we say: "het gaat als de brandweer" which means "it is as fast as the fireman". Nice, isn't it? And, referring to another thread, are your colleages really driving an A6 or do they just read magazines and watch commercials? Anyway, just smile back and be proud of your beautyful car! __________________ 2003 E60 530dA E 2010 F10 535dA HE (coming up) Last edited by 535daHEfan; 08-31-2010 at 12:19 AM.. |

I went for the adaptive drive because I want the best of both worlds. Unfortunately I couldn't find a demonstrater fitted with AD so I could only go by road tester's reviews and the many positive replies I received from fellow forum members. I'm hoping for a relaxed town and motorway cruiser, with the ability to transform it into something like my E92 M Sport at the touch of a button - we'll see...... |

I think my dealer said week 36, but my memory is far from reliable! I'll check in the morning and let you know.

What's the difference between Sport Seats? This could be different for various markets, trying to justify over $1K premium over Sport Seats for US market.

@all of you, congrats, 535d is one fine automobile, but for me(20,000kms/year) noth worth the extra cash, and I love the sound of petrolengines.

UK spec comfort seats do all the the sport ones do and a good bit more on top. The side bolsters inflate just as well. The adjustable lumbar support is included. The head restraint is softer (good for a quick roadside nap) and is electrically adjusted. The seat back is split and both halves are independently adjustable. The thigh support is electrically adjustable. The steering wheel rake and extension is likewise. All settings are stored to memory. All this for £1200 compared to £900 for full electric sport seats including memory plus £250 for lumbar support - I reckon it's not bad for £50 extra. |

Hi Jon D,
I'm new to this forum. I'm considering a 530d/535d M Sport and waiting on reviews comparing the Adaptive Drive option vs standard M Sport suspension although I'm keen on the Adaptive Drive. My spec would be similar to yours and was wondering if you could give me any indication of level of discount you were able to get? |

You can only ask and I wish you good luck, but I don't think you'll get very much from a UK dealership - the F10 is in high demand and they don't have to try hard to sell it. |
