Rarity Value
Since picking up my 5GT a few weeks ago I've had a lot of questions from complete strangers. Everyone knows its a BMW, but the 5GTs are so rare on the road (at least here in the UK) that it provokes a lot of curiosity. The fact that it isn't a 7, a 5 or an X5 also seems to confuse people who ask whether it is a brand new model, or some kind of prototype!!!
It's not only a bloody marvellous car, but something different and unique as well. I love it! |

Hi, good to hear that it is attracting attention. Who did you buy from and what sort of deal did you get?

Total discount for a 6 month old VAT qualifying ex demo was 17k off the 50k or so list price.
High end cars tend to have heavy deprecation in the first two years, so that's the first two years depreciation paid for by BMW. I can't and won't complain about that. |

Great that you are enjoying it....I have just bought a black GT with loads of extras.
Still cannot believe how people find these ugly?? There are some discounted cars at the moment, and they are really good value with some depreciation already suffered. Get mine next week. |

Here in Germany, there are some very good offers for GT's that have below 10.000 km! Many examples of these are at mobile.de e.g. Official price with all extras: 116 000 € 8000 km for 62 000 Euro. Thats a huge drop in price! Wondering if BMW will continue the production of this var. Maybe its a collectors item one day! greetz John |

I suspect the discounts may be due to a glut of ex demo vehicles from around the time of the launch. As with the X6 its a new sector, and not to everyone's taste, but as a combination of luxury, performance, load carrying ability (and price) it works better for me than an X5 or 530 touring.

Noodles, picking up my ex management 530d GT exec wednesday, managed similar discount, it is a very niche market car, but GT fits my requirements perfectly, I am very happy they made it, and then discounted to a nearly new price just £6,000 above the cost of a new top spec mondeo! It is the only car that we found that matched the sense of occasion of our elderly alpina D10(ride quality not so good in GT)
looking at options for retro fitting surround view to the side and rear cameraa, and winter tyres |

I too will be looking into the winter tyres. I will be wanting to take skiing into Germany in the new year, or I will have to take the X3.
Has anyone got the loudspeaker system, this car that I am getting has this fitted, but I could not hear too much difference. Thought that the power of the engine was terrific, especially in the sports + mode, it really does feel smaller out on the open road. I think that with the reductions, this car makes so much more sence than a similar priced 520d se f10. It has been a no brainer for me, and I am happy for it to stay a rare site on the road |

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 6 month old ex management 5er GT. I have the choice of 2. Both are similar mileage. Sapphire Black. Black Dakota. Visibility, Media Professional, Dynamic, Sun Protection, Business Loudspeaker.
The only difference is 1 has the rear camera. This car is £400 more expensive (after my price negotiations). I would appreciate any members opinion if this is a price worth paying? Coops18, I agree on your comment re comparisons with the F10 price. I have just cancelled my order today! |

Bickers1972, how about costing retro fitting camera at a later date if the final £400 is breaker, I think there is a few on ebay or even bmw parts, why not try and negotiate the coding for later integration,
and just on personal note, after living with the car for 2 day loan, I would miss the use of the camera, the salesman said after agreeing the deal "the camera was the most important option for daily life in the gt" |

Great Deals on ex-demo cars if you're quick: I got one!
Got my F07 GT in June fully loaded for £12k off £50K list price; only 8 mo. old ex-BMW UK car with one of the best spec combinations going:
Black SapphireThe car turns heads wherever it goes, and when it is parked. Quite a rarity and beginning to be appreciated more now that it appears ob the UK X-Factor [Judge's Cars!], on the Ryder Cup and loads of press editorials. Some colours can look ugly - not a fan of Neptune Blue on the GT - but Space Grey / Alpine White / Black Sapphire just rock. Noticed that there are now 5 GTs on the VIP fleet at Heathrow Airport (airside) that drive up to the corporate jets when they arrive! I am delighted with the car: one of the best interiors BMW have ever done [check it out in Cohiba Brown Individual Leather online - a £4500 option but worth every penny on seats, dashboard and door trim] Superb to drive on the motorways with a well-planted stance, nice hydraulic steering for the tactile feel that is every bit the BMW, epic 3-litre diesel engines with tons of low-down torque for surprisingly quick starts and 32mpg fuel economy in mixed driving [lots of 30mph city driving] Whats to complain about!!! |

bickers, it seems that the reverse camera is available as a accessory so must be available as a dealer fit, or wait for DIY post here, it gives you the option if the non camera car is a better deal.

bickers, just got home with our new car and while only having used the reversing camera three times, I'm beginning to trust the guide lines just like i have come to completely trust the reversing sensors. I really think that you made a good choice!
the car has a great sense of occasion and had the pleasure of looking down on two F10 520d basic spec that cost the same as my loaded GT exec 41.9 mpg on 187miles mostly motorway but 30miles spirited country lanes |
