F10 Headlight Replacement

Sorry if this has been answered in other posts...if so, please let me know which one(s).

Anyway, I have a non-working headlight due to water/condensation and I'm looking for advice on how to proceed.

Does anyone have advice which sites and brand to avoid or use? Ebay has a bunch of them but is $400 going to get me a piece of junk versus a $1000 unit. Then what about the modules...same questions. Then the coding. I'm pretty good at this type of stuff but I'm a bit lost and concerned I'll just be wasting money.

TIA

Which headlights do you have? There are halogen, bi-xenon, AHL xenon, and LED. You may get a better response if you give enough info for forum members to give suggestions.

A lot of info out there re: headlamp condensation as it, unfortunately, is not an uncommon issue. The cheap fix is to remove the existing headlamps, dry them out, then run a silicone bead along the outside where the lens meets with the base. This seems to work for most who have tried it. Others have removed the lens, refinished, then re-sealed - A LOT of time consuming work on that one, but positive results. Then there's replacing and that will depend a lot upon which type of lights you have (as mentioned above). I've read very, very few posts where people have been happy with aftermarket cheap headlamps. New Genuine BMW headlamps are ridiculously overpriced. Hella is the OE manufacturer and significantly cheaper (yet still much more than aftermarkets).

Depends on what is wrong with the light. Is it just the housing electronics that are bad? Or do you have dead modules? What does ISTA say when you test the modules?

The only brands you should buy are BMW or Hella. Anything else is aftermarket and will likely give you issues. If you're just replacing the housing and keeping the same modules, the only "coding" you'll have to do is teach in the angel eyes.
