**2018 College Football Thread**

Spring football has started for some schools.

Most importantly, got a question for y'all.

My friend is a seat license holder at Levi's Stadium site of the CFP Championship game this year.

He was offered "premium" seat allocation for the game a $1500 each. No additional information is available other than it's a ticket package with other stuff. He's offering it all to to me. Should I skip it and wait for just the game ticket allocation?

You could almost certainly easily flip 2 of them later if you decide not to go. Not sure the prices will get as crazy as a game in Atlanta with 2 SEC teams playing, but should still be a valuable ticket even if teams from East / Midwest have to travel. So, yeah, since it's a trusted source, I think you should strongly consider buying 2 ticket packages rather than waiting.

Interesting QB competitions this Spring in many places. I'm hoping Perry can step up and take over for us at Miami. Rosier was the only logical choice last year and came through in some big games but was painful to watch by the end of the season. Elsewhere, FSU, FL, Alabama, Clemson and GA (among others) could see starters replaced, in some cases by true Freshmen. I'll believe it when I see it as it is a tough position to see a Freshman take over.

thanks for the tip. My problem is, if I have tickets in hand, I'm 100% certain that I'll be going regardless of pricing. I won't be going through the hassle of selling mine for a profit for hopes of getting a "cheaper" ticket. Plus his seats are 30 yard line lower bowl, so it'll be hard to give up that view. I was just spoiled bc I went to the playoff game 2 years ago in Glendale, and my ticket was ONLY $350 for 10 yard line seats in the lower bowl.

I'm just trying to think whether I love CFB enough to go for $1500. I mean I know the answer is yes. I don't care if my two most hated teams (Bama and Michigan) are playing, I'll go and watch and troll both of them. Luckily, I don't have to worry about Michigan making it anywhere close to the game...maybe the Foster Farms Bowl...

Anyways, do you know how much the Atlanta tickets were? I know it varies a lot based on when you buy it and seat location, but what were the ranges?

I don't see Emory Jones winning the position at FL, and I'll be shocked from Fromm loses his spot.

Agree on Fromm. Not sure about FL since their offense has struggled and they have a new coach. I'd like to seem them continue to struggle no matter who wins the job.

Tickets to the game in Atlanta were insane:

hmmm....this comment though:

The surge in scalped prices is a big turnaround from last year, when Clemson and Alabama met in Glendale, Az. For that game, tickets on the secondary market were as low as $190, with an average price of $675, the lowest price since 2011.

Leads me to believe people just don't want to watch college football in Arizona.

Here's the 2014 season game: http://time.com/money/3663630/colleg...ticket-prices/
I mean, it featured a team that travels well too. So...maybe Atlanta was just an outlier because it was a local game.

In the Bay Area, people don't give a shit about CFB. I'll bet most 49ers fans won't even know the game will be played there if you ask them the week of the game.

I might chance it.

Agree on Bay Area lack of enthusiasm for football and don't see a PAC 10 team in the playoffs. However, it is a great place to visit so it might be incentive for people to travel more so than AZ such that people bundle the game and a vacation. We get that here with the beaches and other tourist destinations when the game is in the Orange Bowl. AZ is nice and a warm place to spend the winter but seems like less of an overall tourist / vacation destination than SF or Miami. Atlanta was definitely an outlier due to teams involved.

This is a pretty good look back:

Location matters. 2014 might be discouraging, since it was in CA.

That's true. When I was in Glendale for the game, I ran out of things to do in Phoenix (I don't golf)

Same 2 teams 2016 vs. 2017. Big difference in price has to be location.

Hmm FSU - Auburn was in Rose Bowl right?

Yeah, I think I'm going to chance it. I told my friend to keep an eye out for "standard" tickets

Yup, we’d better get our OL sorted before LSU.

that's fine...LSU hasn't sorted out their QB mess. At current rate, the game will be a 13-6 affair.

BTW, I got the final Levi's Stadium CFP Championship ticket pricing. $1000 for upper deck, to $5000 for all inclusive club level. Lower bowl inside the 20's are $3000. At this rate, I'm betting pricing will be below face value, even with teams announced. I'm going to buy my tickets on secondary market.

That's steep. Can't blame you,

I'm still debating making a trip to Dallas for the LSU game, but right now not planning to go.

stupid Jerry Jones...always trying to make a buck off of people....

Same here, I'm debating on OSU-TCU two weeks after. The trip will cost me close $1000 when it's all said and done.

Just seeing this! Good question, we don't know at this point... Typical LSU, can seem to recruit lots of talent at WR that develops and moves to the NFL but we can't seem to develop a decent QB.

Myles Brennan is a true sophomore with very limited game experience. We signed Joe Burrow when he left Ohio St. but don't know much about him other than he couldn't win the starting job at OSU!

Bottom line, going to be a rough year for Coach O in his second full season as head coach.
