Will they Fit???....

Had posted this in the wheel section but not enough traffic. New to me F10 coming from an E60 want to use my old wheels but not sure if they will fit. Searched this forum and found some old threads but still unsure. Have seen some pretty aggressive set ups.

Looking to put on:

20x10 Front ET15 (245 Tire)

20x11 Rear ET25. (275 tire)

From my searches rears should be fine. Going for stretched look. Very unsure about the front as far as offset and rim width.

Any thoughts?

Have you entered the wheel/tire info at this site yet to see how much poke and inset there is with the new set-up: www.willtheyfit.com

Compare the old & new setup to each other for each axle.

Thanks for the reply. I am familiar with that site but not useful for me because I would be comparing stock wheel size to the aftermarket wheels.

I was hoping to get some insight from someone who has seen it done or someone who might've been running similar sizes currently. More so clearing the suspension in the front of the vehicle. (Wishbone, struts)Not getting too many hits from this forum so I'll just have to test fit and see. I already have the wheels but they are currently on my old car which isn't at my home. Figured I'd get some answers before having to swap the wheels at another location.

You compare old wheel/tire specs vs new wheel/tire specs ONE axle at a time. That is how the www.willtheyfit.com site lets you know if your new wheel/tire combo is doable.

You can mount them to see...but you could have also simply used the site (again, comparing ONE AXLE at a time (old front vs new front...then old rear vs new rear)...which will reveal how much more or less the new setup pokes out or inward vs the old setup which you know fits.

A personal example is...my f06 650ix GC came with Style 356 20" wheels:
  • 8.5" x20" w33mm offset (f)
  • 9"x 20" w/44mm offset (r)
mounted with staggered
  • 245/35/20 tires (f)
  • 275/30/20 tires (r)

I had a set of 18" Style 37 MPars from my e38 that I wondered if they could be used for a winter setup since they were sitting in my shed unused. So I ran the front axle specs (for the old vs new) then the rear axle specs (for the old vs new) to see if the 18" wheels would fit. Their specs were:
  • 8'x18" w/13mm offset (f)
  • 9.5" x 18" w/25mm offset (r)
mounted with staggered
  • 235/50/18 (f)
  • 255/45/18 tires (r)

I already knew that the 18" tires for the e38 7 series had a circumference too great for the f06 six series...so I used the correct 18" tire sizes for the 6 series to see if the new set up would poke out too far (especially with the MPar's front wheel's 13mm offset)

So again, using ONE AXLE at a time...I compared the original front wheel & tire for the f06 to the FRONT wheel & f06 tire if mounted on the style 37 with a compatible 18" winter tire setup to see if they would poke out too far.
  • 245/45/18 (f)
  • 255/45/18 (r)

The site revealed that the front tire would move approx 13mm toward the fender (aka "poke). All it required was to check if the tire sat 13mm further toward the fender...would it poke out past the fender. The answer was no, with a simple ruler.

The same was then done for the rear axle and it revealed that the new rear setup would move away from the suspension and and poke out approx 25mm more. Again, a simple measuring tool would reveal if the new setup would stick out past the fender. It did not. So the e38 Style 37 MPars became the winter wheel/tire combo for my f06. Using the www.willtheyfit.com website calculator was a big help in figuring things out.

The 1st image below shows a comparison of my FRONT axle...using the original 20" wheel/tires and comparing the new 18" front wheel/tire combo. The 2nd image shows a screen shot using the REAR axle comparing the original 20" wheel/tire combo with the new 18" rear wheel/tire combo.

Much Appreciated I will try that approach instead of wasting time moving wheels. If it seems a little close I'll take the time out to mount them and see. When I had the E60 I didnt have to do much leg work because a few people ran similar offsets and sizes. Thanks again for the reply

Good luck. More than likely they will fit if the specs for the tires & wheels aren't that much different. Like in my situation, my biggest fear were the front wheels where the e38 MPars had a 13mm offset vs the 33mm offset of the f06 wheel.

When I look at the chart below...the e60 and f10 have very similar specs:
