Brake fluid flush

I own a 2016 535i Xdrive with 35k miles and looking to do a brake flush myself.

But I am wondering if is there a special procedure required to bleed the system once the system is broke open .
Or the normal procedure where someone pumps the pedal and I open the bleeder valve in each wheel is enough?

Thank you

Need ISTA. People have reported spongy brakes if you do it without.

Took mines into the stealership.

Pleasantly surprised that the service costed me $99.99

100 ish after taxes.

Worth a phone call to your local dealer. This is coming from a guy who did the valve seals himself on the 550i along with other major mods on the car lol.

Is that a special price or daily? I think I paid $220 at my local dealer.

Here in Daytona beach, they said that the price is ongoing. No special promos or anything. I’m sure the price differs from dealership to dealership but a couple quick phone calls between shops to compare prices may help. Then you can discuss with the shop of your choice to see if they can price match.

I guess I got lucky with mines since I did expect a price north of 200 because “stealership” lol.

Sad part was the service was cheaper than the hood struts that I needed that costed about 120 dollars per side.

On that note, 35 bucks on Amazon took care of that lol.

Some of the specialty BMW shops around my area don't even do the full ISTA process. Has anyone not done that that and still have successful results?

I DIY'ed my last 2 brake fluid flush the old fashioned way with a Motive bleeder without ISTA and no issues.

Arguably using ISTA/INPA to cycle the ABS/DSC/etc. systems is the best way but IMO for regular brake bleeds that did not introduce air into the system i.e. changed a brake line, then it is not needed.

I did my brake fluid job with autophix 7910, it has abs and battery registration functions also.
It worked fine without any issues. Used one and half liter to flush/replace the fluid.
I don't think that you will have issues without abs but it sure gives me peace of mind.

Do you recommend Autophix for a DIY
I am looking for a scanner to perform the basic maintenance services like battery registration, EPB, code retrieval

I had the autophix for 6 months and it does have the basic functions like the rest plus the brake abs and battery registration. Especially I bought it for less than $80 with discount.
So yes, I recommend it. Of course, there is the Foxwell that you can research at a higher price.
