Creaking/squeezing front suspension BMW F10
Hello,
I have a pretty iritaring sound coming from mine front end on my M5 F10. Sound appear only when driving with low speed. For example i hear the noise on uneven roads when going slow, and i also hear it when i start roling from the trafficlight for example. Please see the vido i have uploaded. What could the problem be? I have read all about wheelbearing, dry bushes, sway bar and so on. What do you think guys? Hope somebody can help me out with this, it is so irritaring.. |

I've had this, and it happened to me after driving through heavy rain. I think it was some water getting into bushings, etc. My squeaks went away after a week or so, when stuff dried out. All you might need is to get some lubricant into the bushings or otherwise remove the moisture.
PS: We need pics of your M5!!

Bringing this back up again. I've started to experience this over the last 2 week.
There are no issues with how the car drives and yesterday I had Eibach springs fitted. They checked all suspension arms, bushings etc and all ok. Any idea what this noise is? Anything that needs to be lubricated or greesed? The noise is so annoying |

I suspect the bolt hole for your control arm have wear on it and is causing this noise. To attempt to fix this, pull the bolt from your control arm, spray WD40 to help remove the black stuff from the bolt hole on your control arm. Put anti seize around the bolt shaft and reassemble.

I took my car into a specialist, they looked over the suspension and said the only possible issue they can see is that the front sway bar bushings were a bit cracked. I had them install a new sway bar (because obviously the bushings aren't sold separately) and the issue is still there. They said the thrust arms look good. I wish the original poster would come out and say what fixed this on his M5. I do not want to start replacing parts for the hell of it.

I've still not solved this issue. But what I have found is sometimes if I mount a kerb and drop down of it on the side I think I have the issue, the sound goes away for a time. Maybe until I mount a kerb or drive over a large speed bump. I tried lithium grease on all the ball joints I could reach but nothing really solved it permanently

Here are the vids taking for the sqeaking noises - I could force them by getting in low speed on and off the brake - but the limitation was LOW TEMPS! The squeaking got only more with low temps - so as I call it a seasonal issue.
Right sied squeaking Left side squeaking As I mentioned before - changed front control arms and squeaking noise is gone Happy sound search! Lars |

sorry for reviving an old thread but I just found the solution to my creaking noise in my front end and wanted to share!
After digging into what the most annoying sound my M5 has ever made, I was convinced it was the lower front control arm... well, I jacked the front of the car up and the wheel had NO play at all... reached into the spring/ strut area and pulled the little rubber bushing and plastic tube down, sprayed it with silicone lube. SQUEAK IS GONE! Thank god I didnt go out and just buy parts for it... Best of luck to everyone and hopefully you'll be able to fix the noise with a few bucks! |
