Recommendations for Improving Overall Feel and Handling In Twisty Conditions
Hey guys!
Been enjoying my F10 for the past two weeks and been getting a feel for the stock driving dynamics. Despite XDrive it feels like a BMW at hgiher speeds, but the body roll at lower paces is just too much for me to handle. Currently, to improve the road feel, cornering capabilities, and overall stiffness, I am deciding to do the following: F10 M5 front sway bar 650i rear sway bar Solid set of coilovers (Perhaps Bilstein, ECS Tuning, GodSpeed, KW etc) Of course, along with that I'm also looking to do new wheels and fresh rubber, preferably PS4s. However, I've also seen a bunch of people go for Eibach and H&R sway bars, but I'm not sure if they fit on the xDrive models and if they do, are they safe to use? Along with that, I'm torn between different suspension setups and am wondering if the ECS coilover kit would be my best bet. Any thoughts on what I should do and what I should be getting to create a more BMW-like handling feel would be highly appreciated! |

If you're getting coilovers, you could consider an H&R/Eibach 20mm rear sway bar and stick with the stock front. That reduces understeer the most. M5 front is the next step up. A little more understeer but a little flatter.

Have you installed them or know anyone who has? How do they feel? |

On my car with KWv3s right now I have settled with: factory front, H&R 20mm rear. The rest sit in my basement. The coilovers seem to flatten out enough of the front end lean that it's more than tolerable, meaning you can concentrate on handling balance with the bars more than just trying to be flat. Before I had coilovers, there's no way I could stand the factory front bar. I was running the M5 front and H&R 20mm rear for quite some time, including pre-coilovers. It STILL understeered but I could not go softer than M5 front pre-coilovers for reasons of roll perception. |

Yes, it is very good for the money. Lowers 1 inch, improves handling a lot. Reduces nose dive, swaying. I used to have H&R sways, but removed them. Don’t need it. Forged wheels (lighter wheels) helps a lot in handing department.
