M5 Sway bar to 550i?
Has anyone looked into swapping the front sway bar from the F10 M5 onto the non-M F10? They look like they will work, but I am trying to confirm. Since there aren't any options for sway bars, this seems like a good upgrade to help improve handling.
Anyone...? |

Sway bar from "sport suspension"
Same interest...my F10 M sport sways a lot.
I made the mistake of jumping on a good deal 2012 F10 M Sport and SAT assuming it would have a sport suspension. Only to later learn NO..BMW 2012 repackaged many of its components as options. I don't have DHP (no ARS) but do have EDC. I even missed the "704" sport suspension. Would you know if the sport suspension sway bars are bigger AND if they would fit? Thanks Last edited by HDEddie1; 10-03-2013 at 10:06 AM.. |

I missed this, sorry. I have the springs and wider tires, but the front still feels as though a larger bar would help. Once I have the front M5 bar and attempt the install, I will report any improvements I may experience.

Ok, I finally got this bar and installed it this evening. It fit fine, didn't have any issues. Will report back how the car feels and then open to anyone that would like to purchase the parts for their 550i.

Is it a front only? Rear only? You mention it as a singular, which is why I ask.

We are testing the rear next week hopefully. But the front bolted right up with the right parts.
Combined with my H&Rs with M Sport suspension and Michelin SS, the car handles corners much better now. Turn in seems to be a bit sharper as well. It isn't a huge difference, but well worth the upgrade. |

Nice. A pic would be cool if you can. Will this M5 sway bar conflict with Dinan stage 5? I know he is coming out with a sway bar with stage 5 and maybe his will be similiar to the M5 sway bar possibly better?? What are your thoughts on that. How much did you pick the M5 sway bar up for?

Hey Joe, I'm not sure if you told me but does your car have (ARS) Active Roll Stabilization?

I wonder the sway bars are different between the i and Xi models. I know on my buddies e90 his fsb and mine were different due to rwd and awd.
Something to keep in mind. Alan

The reason why I asked about ARS is because my car has this option and my car handles like an M3. It is very tight on corners and I barely notice any body roll if any at all. My car is super planted with my current setup. I guess I can't add the M5 sway bar now if it doesn't work with ARS. Maybe Dinan's will but if it doesn't I won't complain because I have no issues currently with the handling of the vehicle...not to say there isn't always room for improvement.

Great news Joe! I'm planning on this upgrade.
Did you get just the bar with the bushings or did you get the brackets and the other related connection pieces? And just curious...would you know the thickness increase of the M5 bars over the stock? Thanks. |
