M5 Diffuser and M5 mufflers with Akrapovic Tips on 550i
what a big pain in the ass this project was...installed the M5 diffuser with M5 mufflers and akrapovic dry carbon 95mm tips on my 550i...the hexagon tips are finally gone...
Car sounds awesome while its still quiet on the highway. The valves in the mufflers are still functional. thanks to a few forum members for the parts.... Sound Clip posted below.... Last edited by dmetuning; 10-02-2012 at 09:10 AM.. |

Wowsers!! Great job and I salute your efforts. Came out absolutely gorgeous. Enjoy it in good health. The car is only missing one thing, 3D design spoiler would complete the car for me and enter the F10 hall of fame. Either way a great car.

How did you fit the akrapovic dry carbon tips on F10M5 exhaust? I really like those tips, but really don't want to spend over 7K for buy the whole akrapovic system.

BTW: Even if you buy the whole Akra M5 Exhaust, $1700 of the $7000 is for the tips so its not like its a waste of money. |

Exhaust looks awesome!! Great Job,,
I had a great looking/sounding exhaust built for my 2012 550I. The only problem is that it drowned like crazy inside the car. I was thinking of purchasing different mufflers for for the exhaust...Any thoughts..? Thanks Matt |

did you have an x-pipe built for the exhaust? sometimes the placement of the x-pipe could dramatically reduce the drone you are getting. The closer to the engine the x-pipe is, the less noise the exhaust will produce. The further away the x-pipe is, the more noise it will produce. Take notice my x-pipe is as close to the engine as possible with having xDrive. |

Thanks..for your reply...
No..they left everything in from the resonator forward. They just flanged in pipes back from the resonator back with very small mufflers back. It sounded like all the drown came from the trunk forward. I'm thinking if they didn't have good enough mufflers with the system.nice tips however. I'm wondering if I had better mufflers possibly off the M5 if it would drown..? |
