Also, noticed that headlights come on with car parked and ignition in accessory mode if you have auto headlights turned on (even in a fully lit garage)...several times lately messing around with the nav and the stereo/idrive, etc while in the garage I noticed after awhile that the lights were on...just flipping the switch to non-auto lights shuts them off, while leaving the DRLs on. But a little bit surprised that the headlights would come on while the car is parked in accessory mode in a brightly lit area.

Ah, yes, I do have that enabled. Thanks for letting me know and glad to hear that I can turn it off. So the welcome lights turns on the lights when you unlock the car and leaves them on for like 30seconds after you lock the car...is that it?

basically yes, you mentione dheadlights , its just the DRLs and Taillights.
but yes, if its ticked in the i-drive and the light swtich is in auto ot on, this occurs. If you don't want welcome lights leave the light sstich in 'O' or disable in i-drive. i believe I have read that some coders have managed to change the time the lights stay on as well. |

whilst we're all the subject of 'hidden' features.
have you noticed that if you put on teh parking lights, only the outer rear lights light up? not the whole unit? also I've posted about this but if you hold the HUD swtich down for 10 seconds, you get the diagnostics displayed. Press teh swtich to cycle through about 15 differnt displays. |

Wish it would close the same way, after all, those parcels have to come out, too.

I don't know if I would call this a hidden feature but I've noticed that when at a traffic light and I turn on my blinker, that sometimes the reflection in the bumper in front of me showed a glowing light that dimmed. Finally, I decided to have a look for myself.
When you engage a turn signal, the high beam light on the side that the blinker is flashing will also light up with a yellowish amber glow. Then that headlight will fade to black away after about 5-7 seconds. Cool feature that I never noticed until recently. |

What I am talking about is not the lights that turn with the steering wheel (is that what is meant by adaptive lighting or cornering lamps?). What I am describing is a yellowish amber light (not orange blinker) that turns on normally where the high beam or bright lights turn on. This light is on only momentarily when I engage my turn signal and turns itself off even if the turn signal is still engaged. Try it yourself and see.

The high beams are activated by a shutter that lifts in the outter projector housings. Have someone turn the brights on while you stand in front and watch. As mentioned, the inners are the cornering lamps which also come on depending how the wheel is turned and when backing up in addition to when you put the turn signal on.

Do you guys have the weather feature on the navigation? It's shown on mine but it does not display the weather forecast. BMWUSA.com shows it and looks pretty cool. I called the dealership and you do not need additional subscription. It's part of the new updated iDrive with the real time traffic info. the manual says you need to zoom out 10 miles, but it still does not show up on mine even after zooming out. Anyone have this feature and is able to utilize it?

Don't you just go and "check" it off? Mine is "checked" off but still no weather forecast.
