And actually Honda has still a lot of work to do , if they want to close the gap with Ferrari and the Mercs in this season. Looks like the Mercs had a new engine upgrade . But they don't talk about it...

Yep . And that's one of reasons why we are watching lack of suspense...

Yes Honda has an immense amount of work to do to catch up with Merc & Ferrari - and likely not to catch either in terms of HP by the end of the season. And yes definitely more difficult since both of them will be bringing upgrades of their own throughout the season. Overall package though - RBR showed promise today possibly being able to close the gap with Ferrari while still considerably down on power. But yes they do have a long ways to go. I'm going to chose to view Baku through RBR colored glasses despite just a 4th & DNF Mercedes is just in a league of their own - they are just so good at every faucet of the sport. At least Bottas is bringing a good game this year & it's not 4 straight for Hamilton to start. Ugh. |

I'm not really buying this "Ferrari has the faster car every race weekend BS". More HP is one thing, but I haven't heard any technical breakdown of how they are faster every race weekend over a single lap.

I think Ferrari has just as good a car as Merc. Everything else at Ferrari needs work. Their strategy and drivers need work. Leclerc will get there. He’s already shown that he can. Vettel needs to figure his shit out and how to deliver.

Vettel can not perform well under stress situations . But the young Leclerc showed already he can , just like Max .

Once again Merc's taking the spot almost uncontested after lap 31. Formula E was entertaining though again.

i felt like Lewis could push more but he didnt.. Bottas is a fast guy but it ll be a really hard task to fight with a 5 times champ with one mistake he ll blow the candle away again..
and yes.. F1 TV started to suck again really.. cant understand how on earth they still couldnt manage make proper broadcast.. free practices were fine but important parts of the weekend was pain in the apple.. |

Pit him a few laps earlier, put him out in the thick of it, and everyone is on worn out tires at the end. Let the drivers drive. |

Not sure you can put any fault on the mediums here - he knew what tire he was on & if he can't make it through a qualifying lap without crashing because he is on mediums then not sure he needs to be in that seat. Not leclerc bashing here but I think that one has to be 100% on him.

This is sure to be the worst F1 season of all time. Even a traditionally action packed race like Baku was complete mind numbering boredom almost the entire way through. This is just getting worse.

If enough people keep saying that Ferrari have the faster car, maybe they'll convince us that this nonsensical idea is a fact. |

I record the races, and usually avoid social media until I'm finished watching. But I've reached a point where spoiling the result gives me some sweet relief, so I can stop watching the inevitable, and get on with my life. |

If he hadn't run another lap in Q2 he would've had a great position to start, and the medium tires worked very well in the early part of the race. So, the strategy was risky but had a great potential outcome.

Ferrari has a capable car, but feels there's still a overall performance gap to the Mercs. They really need all the variables being right (e.g. Bahrain) to win over Merc. SF also need to work on their strategy, felt like they're too stubborn/indecisive on the decision and missed the opportunity.
If Ferrari slips more, Max and RBR is breathing down their neck. At least the good thing about this season is Bottas is extremely strong and matching Hamilton's pace. Feels more tight than Rosberg back in 2016.
