Tires setup on 2012 535i with Sport pkg
Hello all! Figured I’d post here to get some reliable information before deciding on tire replacements. I have a 2012 535i with the sport package. OEM tire setup is apparently 245/40r19 in front and 275/35r19 rears.
I bought my car secondhand in May 2021 and was feeling my tread getting low so I took a look at my tires for the FIRST time(I know I’m not sure how it slipped my mind) and see that the previous owner had slapped on 275/40r19s on the rear instead of 275/35r19s and kept the 245/40r19s in the front. My rear treads are running low, so I was planning on getting those two replaced and keeping the front the same. My question is this: can I keep the 245/40r19 front and 275/40r19s rear or should I go oem and get 275/35r19s for the rears? I haven’t had any issues that seem to stem from the wheels/tires. My concern is overall health for the car. Thanks in advance friends! |

IMO....I think it's personal preference at this point. 275/40s aren't too much different than 275/35s. I'm running 285/35s in the rear and 255/40s in the front.

Assuming your F10 is not xDrive, then you are OK with 275/40/19 on the rear. Your overall tire diameter increases by about 1" with 275/40/19 vs 275/35/19, so this would not work on a xDrive. Your speedometer will also be little off from what it's set at factory, but that's no big deal since it will now read closer to reality.
