Am I right in thinking that when the uk mobile networks switch off their 3G our connected drive dies with it?
120k so far and loving it what a great car.

Here in Australia the 3G Network has been switched off. So goodbye Connected Drive for my 2016 F10 535i and the wife's 2016 X1. But aside from live traffic, which was good but not great, I haven't really missed much else. Downsides are you can't download anything like maps so you are left to either get the dealer install the latest version or obtain an aftermarket solution.
Despite being annoyed that BMW didn't see this coming back in the design stages, it has not been the end of the world. Don't miss it as much as I thought I would. Still get DAB for the radio and can source new maps so its something I can live with. The F10/F11 generation are so much nicer to drive the the newer versions which can be a little sterile by comparison. Have a low mileage example which I intend to keep. |
