why wouldn't you just get an X6, just as non functional, and amazingly enough looks 100 times better than that. but hey, whatever floats your boat, i hope you enjoy it! |

I also love the X6, but....
Here in Europe people throw eggs at you if you drive a high SUV. It is not very popular. The GT is much more welcome as a status vehicle. And it costs 10.000 dollars less than the X6. It also has space for 5, which is important to me. And interior quality, engine specs are better. C Quote:

People who call the vehicle ugly ( without probably ever seeing it in person ) Are judging it merely on 1 aspect only, looks. Have you thought about possible uses that would be ideally suited to a particular person, have you thought about interior? Space/functionality, handling, power, acceleration/braking, gas mileage. I would think not, nobody has even driven it, it really confuses me to hear people say it's ugly i wont buy it with so little experience with the actual product.

I agree that the "look" from the photo's we have seen have not really been aesthetically appealing. Something just doesn't look right with the lines, or the geometry. Having never seen it in person yet, perhaps the photos are misleading, but, I know that 3, 5, 7 series coupes and saloons look great in pics, and in person. That being said, the chances of mine, and the many others who say something doesn't appeal quite correctly with the GT are probably on target, and should match sentiment in person. However, form, function, design, and efficiency may outweigh the look, I for one don't believe that will be the case, but will keep an open mind.
Congrats on your new BMW, please post pics when you can. |

So Claus,
What made you buy this car? I'm not trying to be argumentative or disrespectful. I just don't get it though. I'd really love if a GT buyer could shed some light on what makes them want this car other then it being just different and new. What do you get from this car that you can't get from a sedan or wagon? Are there big discounts for employees to use it as a demo or something?...I'm honestly still just trying to figure out the idea/point of this car. because a new concept of a car will atract much more attention from the people.. i think it looks better than R Class from Merc, the other luxury cruiser from this new segment...

What made you buy the GT?

They look great 'in the flesh' which we have been able to see, in Switzerland where they are on sale. (Released in Australia in March 2010). Also the smooth quiet economical power of the diesel X5 convinced us to buy our first diesel for our Australian city car. |
