To powder coat or not... that is the question
Proud new owner of my first BMW ('12 535i Msport) after a 15+ year love affair with Infiniti (G35 coupe, sedan & M35). Couldn't be happier. The 5 is in a class of it's own.
That being said, my first "mod" will be powder coating the rims until I'm ready to make the plunge and buy new rims and tires. Messed around in photoshop with colors. Just need help deciding what color. A, B, or C? A. Gun metal B. Black C. Keep it stock |

Plasitidip them. Cheaper, removable, and if done right, can look nearly as good.
That being said I like gunmetal.

What about powder coating them bright silver
That is, leave them as is. I'm not a fan of dark wheels on a dark car, I think they look so much better with a the pop of colour the silver brings, but, it's your car, do what you want. |

if you're going to do it go with the gun metal.

Gunmetal is too close to the color of your car and makes for an odd contrast. Go with black if you want some contrast. But as a few of the others said, if you plan to get new wheels at some point, don't spend any money on them now.

I'm of the view that if you're going to get another set then keep your OEM's standard and invest your powdercoat funds in getting the right aftermarkets. Feel proud of the OEM's until then.

I like the OEM but just have that need to stand out in the meantime. H-town has a ton of Msport owners up in here.
