Rear brake pad wear ??
MyF10 520d sport has just turned 16000 miles. The onboard computer tells me that the front brake pads have 32000 miles left in them, but the rears only 6000 miles left !! I am not a heavy braker ! & i doubt the rear figure is accurate. Ive not removed the wheel to check the pads yet but might do so this weekend. Anyone any similar experience ??

Why? BMW will replace the brakes at no cost. This is part of the condition based service plan integrated in the purchase price.
Not to mention, I find your response a little unsettling when you have not even so much as examined his brakes. This is a life safety issue and obviously some factor has caused the CBS to flag the brakes as needing replacement in 6k miles. Just sayin' |

No quite so. Check your service plan before. If you're on standard service plan, brake pads and disks aren't replaced for free.
I've already changed a pair of rear brake pads on my expense. And now I'm 20000km closer to changing them again. Meanwhile the front pads still have around 30000km lifetime left, according to the onboard computer. Last edited by M1rcea; 12-27-2011 at 04:36 PM.. |

What im really confused about here is, arent the front brake pads meant to wear quicker than the rear ones ??. Unless im off the mark here i understood that the greater braking force came from the front brakes ?
