Will 245/45/19 fit my 5er without rubbing?
Hey guys quick question.
Will a 245/45/19 set fit my 535i base sedan without rubbing or interference? I currently have a 245/40/19 which is fine but need to confirm about a 245/45/19 setup. Thanks! |

it's not rubbing you should be worried about. You changed the rolling diameter of the car over 3.5%. Speedo errors, worse gas mileage, car may pull, alignment issues. Not worth it. Go 255/40R19.

The 331 are 19x8.5 ET33 245/40/19 and 19x9 ET44 275/35/19.

I have 245/45/19 Dunlop tires on my 5 series. no problems what so ever in ride, I know that my speedo is a litle bit off but I dont care. the wheel arch looks much better filled up now than with low profile 245/45 in my oppinion.

NO Problem with 245/45r19
I agree with WR11, the 245 45 19 works great and fits the wheel well better.
The overall diameter is 27.7 and is the same diameter as the 245 40 r 20/ 275 35 20 which I will be running on my 550 xdrive. BTW one can run staggered wheels on the xdrive. Just make sure all your tires have the same diameter. My last 3 BMWs speedmeter read 2-3mph slow....tested by radar and GPS and the inch taller tire actually corrects the true speed. I've talked to several Dealer Service Depts about this and they say that the factory is within the margin or error 3-5%. Last edited by FatTire; 05-26-2012 at 04:09 PM.. Reason: added info |

I Have a 535i M Sport pack. I have the staggered rims. I just purchased 245/45/49 Goodyear LS2's that came off a 7 series. All four tires are the same size. They Fit perfectly, even on the back rims that are wider. It looks so much better, It fills the wheel well up perfectly. The ride is much smoother, I go over potholes with ease! I dont understand why BMW doesnt approve this, They want you to keep cracking rims and buying new tires.
I highly recommend doing it! |

I have the 245/45r19 Dunlops on my wheels for winter use and it completely changed my winter driving experience here in the Northeast. No issues so far and wasn’t weary of potholes.
Definitely recommend this upgrade. |

I drive 535i and apparently I don't have the TPMS system, only collecting the rolling from the ABS sensors. I visited multiple shops, they are clueless.. and BMW told me to go for the recommended BMW size tires/rims. Anyone having this issues? I am worried that this bigger size wheels may cause other wearing out of modules and mess up the gear shifting.. |

Sorry to bump an old thread but are you lowered? Or is that all from the larger tire size?

The F10 speedo reads slow, a 245/45-19 fixes this. I'm running this tire size for winter and my speedo is now perfect. My odometer reads 3.5% low, but I can live with that. Same story with my Wife's E90; did this 10 years ago (+1" tire diameter), still drives great today. The rest of your concerns are not valid. 7 Series runs this size tire from the factory and suffers from none of the horror stories you tell. Neither does my F10. The only thing to be "afraid" of is rubbing if you have the wrong offset wheel; since the tire is taller it may be more likely to rub. Solution? Don't use the wrong wheel offset. Probably not a good idea to do a big drop on lowering springs, either. I'm running the 408m wheel (OE M5 winter wheel) which is 19x9 square and has 32/25 F/R offset vs the stock wheels at 33/44 and no rubbing to report with the new Michelin X-Ice Snow in 245/45-19. 2016 Canadian 535d M-Sport (530d elsewhere). |
