Tyre Insurance - good deal/alternative insurers?
I'm just about to take delivery of a new F11 M-Sport with 19" wheels.
As is probably the norm, I have been offered by the dealer BMW tyre insurance. Usually I don't bother with add-on insurances like GAP etc but I think considering how expensive the run-flat tyres are on a BMW that it might be a good idea. However, the dealer has quoted £449 for 3 years and £379 for 2 years for £300 cover per tyre. (at 0% interest if I want) 1. Do other insurance companies do tyre insurance and if so, are they likely to be cheaper. 2. Is £300 enough cover for a tyre on a 19" wheel. 3. Is it likely I can negotiate with the dealer to bring this quote down? Last edited by CH79; 06-28-2012 at 07:39 AM.. Reason: adding email notification |

Tyre insurance seems to be a bit of a waste of time - there are so many exclusions. However, not taking GAP insurance (which costs about £120 outside of the dealer network for a 5 year return-to-invoice policy) is insanity.

There is a company called Car2Cover that I have used for both GAP and tyre insurance. Both were much cheaper than the dealer (surprise... Not!) and the cover is as good as - if not better. First discovered them on the e90 forums here.

I also came across AA tyre insurance but I couldn't get a quote from their website. Anyone used them for tyre insurance? |

I know what you mean!
I haven't had to use the actual policies to date, but all the paperwork from car2cover seems correct (FSA disclaimer, etc) and there were references to them from other forums also (not just car, but financial ones also) which helped convince me. But please do your own research - if only for your own peace of mind! |
