Seems like BMW nails all the technical aspects of the car (no surprise here) but can't seem to put it together nicely like Mercedes and Audi.

They put an A6 3.0TDI to the test and despite this...BMW won with his 2.0d engine... The way things look, BMW will continue to dominate the diesel market. I own a e90 320d and i have to say that BMW's diesel engines are just incredible.
Put o chip on this bastard and he'll give a 325i and even a 330i e46 a ride for his money...not to mention cars like a supercharged C180, golf GTI MK5 and even an A4 3.0TDI. Still I think that the 2.0d 4 cyl engine is too small for a 5 series...I'd go for a 530d for the perfect balance. |

I got out of my E90 330d for a test drive in an F11 520d. Lovely car and the power is surplus to requirement in all driving situations. Well, legal driving situations. When you want to go for it, it's not going to fly like the 30d but that said, it is adequate and plenty smooth.
Much love for the 5 Series. My old E60 520d was a good car too.

Considering the US is getting the 2 liter and 3 liter diesels, I'm confident we'll get a 320d and a 730d but I'm not sure which engine they would put in the 5 series. Either one would be good, I think a 520d makes more sense but considering the only diesel we've seen in America recently was the 335d, I think a 530d might sell better. I think a lot of people would assume a four cylinder diesel would be underpowered in a 5 series, even though that engine actually makes more torque than the current 528i.

My 520d doesn't rattle and squeak. Does yours? Do you actually have one?
