Leaked: F10 5 Series Diesel Coming to N.A. in 2013 Third Quarter
BIMMERPOST NEWS Leaked: F10 5 Series Diesel Coming to N.A. in 2013 Third Quarter BMW announced over the summer that the US would be getting new turbo diesel engines (a 180HP 4-Cylinder and 255HP 6-Cylinder), and now we see that BMW is planning 6 new diesel models for the NA market in 2013 and 2014. The slide you see below was reportedly taken during a BMWNA meeting and it reveals the upcoming diesel model lineup and schedule: • F30 3 Series sedan diesel - first half 2013 • F31 3 Series touring - second half 2013 • F10 5 Series diesel - third quarter 2013 • X5d diesel - end of 2013 • 7 Series diesel - first half 2014 • X3d diesel - first half 2014 No info yet on which models may receive what engines, but the 4-cylinder mentioned above may see duty in models labeled 20d or 25d; and the 6-cylinder may power models labeled 28d, 30d or 35d, as well as their counterparts in the xDrive models. No matter the nomenclature, this is wonderful news for the BMW's NA customers! The 5 Series diesel model for the NA market may coincide (or come close in time) with the LCI facelift model, which is scheduled to begin production in July 2013. Slide via Vwvortex |

I am surprised that the 6 cylinder diesel in a 5er will only yield 255 hp. However I will likely get one in the LCI.

This thread doesn't show anything about HP or which engines may be coming or did I miss something? Is there a v8 diesel coming in the X5d? There were rumors of one. |

I hope this includes the M550d. Now that would be just lovely!

Hehe, you guys will love diesel!
I loved my E90 330d so very much, I really miss the punchy torque and the fantastic sound it made. As you'll likely know, the current 30d now makes 258hp and 560NM, along with being even cleaner and more refined, but let me whet your whistle with a video of my 330d 6MT (245hp 520NM) doing the 0-60mph sprint in 5.7s. More power in the lighter F30 will be low 5's and the 530d won't be too far behind! The 35d (313hp 630NM) will be a real treat if you get that, and the 50d I imagine will blow your mind with performance and economy. Even giving it some, the 330d never dropped below 44mpg (UK) really, and stayed mostly around 48mpg. Did an eco drive once (well, speed limit drive) and achieved 52mpg.
