So what's the best feature of the 2013 Pro Nav?
Was just wondering about the best features of the 2013 Pro nav. My list would include:
Speed of planning Send destination to car from iPhone app Google street view at destination Real time traffic information and re planning Auto scale 3D junction and lane information Information in black panel display The one thing that I do miss is speed / safety camera alerts ( cannot find a way to add as points of interest). |

Lane guidance, I am terrible at junctions with multiple exits so it helps me no end. There are lots of interesting features but they I would consider them to be more for "fun"than rather than being of real use (IMO).

Only very recently did I deactivate the navigation cues from the HUD, only to find out they are gorgeously presented in the empty space between the digital dials in the MFID. On the one hand the HUD is de-cluttered, on the other hand now I know what that empty area is meant for.
I am very happy with the 2013 professional navigation!

Wait how does the google street view works in the new navi? Do you need to pay for the $200/year BMW communication in order for it to work? Because otherwise you won't get internet in the car

Google StreetView is not dependent on the Internet option. It is part of the nav pro and the ConnectedDrive 3-yr deal.

I just recieved this from BMW:
The 2013 BMW Navigation Map Update brings you hundreds of thousands of miles of new roads. So you can rest assured you’re always on the fastest and most reliable route. And it takes care of stops along the way with now more than 7.5 million Points on Interest. POIs are grouped into 10 easily searchable headings and now include: over 590,000 restaurants; over 95,000 hotels and accommodations; over 140,000 gas stations; and over 200,000 banks and ATMs. Is this worth $245 for an update? |

3D maps is very clever and detailed. Driving in Sheffiled (England) the other day and suddenly a load of buildings appeared and as we approached Bramhall Lane football ground I was not only impressed to see detail such as green grass and red and white seats in the stadium but also the word "Blades" spelt out in the seats (Blades being the nickname of Sheffield United who play there).
The attention to detail was impressive. Andy |
