Impressed with ice and snow traction
We got our first snowfall of about an inch or so yesterday, and although it wasn't much, it stuck around and was like a sheet of ice and snow for the rest of the day because the temp was about 20 all day. In my neighborhood, we don't plow the road and the driveway unless its 2 inches or more. Its a private street with long driveways, lots of twists, up an downs.
I was a bit worried about how the rear wheel drive F10 would handle the parts where we go up or down the hill, but I was more than impressed. The traction control hardly kicked in and the car drove effortlessly through it all, even the parts where my wife said her SUV was losing traction and sliding. This morning for some fun, I tried to make it slide over a portion of road that was just ice, and it was not easy to do. Traction control kicked in and kept the car going straight. I dont have Xdrive, and I was pretty impressed with the handling and how planted it felt to the road the whole time. God job BMW |

agree completely, but for the small amounts it did very well. We just dont get enough snow to justify swapping the tires. Roads are cleaned fairly quickly around here

Nice to know. All dealers were in shock when I ordered my '13 535i without xdrive in NJ. If there is a lot of snow next winter, I will change to a winter tire setup, which is still cheaper than the xdrive option and is safer than having just an xdrive on all season tires on snow.
