No, but it surely is time (you are under warranty ??) for a visit to your dealer. BTW, because some iDrive error messages may come and go I keep my smart phone handy to take a picture of the alert - it's made my (past) issues easier to document when a code isn't stored &/or easier for the service adviser to track down.

I had this problem on my car when it was about 6 months old, the dealer replaced the battery under warranty. Problem hasn't come up since, it's been 2 years since it was replaced.

I've been getting this error message at least twice a week since I bought mine in September. It occurs in the morning as I start the car to leave for work. When this occurs the steering wheel doesn't automatically lower itself to my saved setting as it normally would otherwise. So, I have to push the comfort settings assignment button on the door.
I was under the impression that the battery was overcharged and this is what was happening in order to maintain a set voltage level in an effort to extend the batteries life. I am going to call the service department tomorrow to check on this. I'll post a response tomorrow based upon what I find out.

I got that all the time when I had the JB 4 installed. Since I took it out it hasn't happened.

I had this problem before the JB and after so i don't think its that. I get the message every week but the car runs and starts fine.

Just picked up my car from the dealership this afternoon. They performed a diagnostic scan on it yesterday.
Here is the description of the outcome on the report: 3867 Scanned vehicle found fault for unathorized waking of vehicle. Load tested battery. Good battery diag code (B8809-x56IV). Performed energy diag. Found frequent wake ups by touchless tail gate opening. Cleared fault and checked OK. Performed parasitic draw test - less than 0.03 amps. Vehicle entered sleep mode. Test drove vehicle 5 miles - checked OK. In summary, the battery was fine. The issue that was causing the message, "Battery discharging while stopped: electrical devices were temporarily switched off", was as a result of frequent failed attempts to open the trunk via the foot activated touchless tail gate sensor without possession of the key fob. The service guy called me this morning and asked if I was parking the rear of my car close to something that might be attempting to activate the touchless tailgate every day. I back my car into the garage. The distance between my work bench and the rear bumper is about 1 foot. What is happening is that when my kids come into the garage from the house they have to walk in between this small gap between the cars rear bumper and the work bench to get to their bicycles. As a result, their feet are apparently moving close enough to the rear bumper such that the sensor tries to open the trunk lid and fails. Since the effort fails, as they do not have the key fob with them, it apparently causes the electrical system to shut down all electrical activated devices as a form of protection from otherwise unnecessariiy draining the battery.

Mine was from my auxillary fan running too long after ignition was turned off. They tried to blame it on my Dinan tune, but there is a bulletin out for it with reprogramming. Hopefully that will fix it.
