Need some coding in San Diego
Hi.
Just picked up my new 535 M sport, and would like to get a few items coded. Any SD or south OC coders around? Will buy you lunch too! |

I'm interested in getting coding done, and learning how to do it in order to support our San Diego community. We San Diegans should combine our resources, arrange a day and place, and pay for gas and lunch for a few hours of doing and learning.
Are there any SoCal coders who want to code and to teach? Please reply to this thread and let's do this. |

Good idea. I was hoping to find some who is very experienced with coding, as I think you can mess up your car petty good if you don't know what you are doing.
Surprised there isn't more f10 enthusiasts in SD. |

I'll be in San Diego towards the end of July. I know it's a while from now but I can help you guys out. I've coded my F10 and all the options that are coded are great.

Let's keep our eyes open for posts from an LA coder who wants to come down for a day. We can choose someplace in northern San Diego like Carmel Valley or Del mar where the drive for anyone from either direction will be easy.

Good idea.
We could a mini-meet and get some coding done. I'd also like to get a list of good detailers/window tint shops/clear bra installers/etc for the SD area. |

I'll buy a cable and get the software onto my laptop. Does anyone else need a cable? I can use a multiple buy to negotiate a lower cost. I think that they're around $25 per when bought solo.

I'm headed into the Inland Empire (Moreno Valley...what a sh*thole) in about 2.5 weeks (1st week of April). I don't have the time to drive down to San Diego since my time is limited with my family while I'm there, but if one of you San Diego guys wants to come to me, I'll teach them how to code and that person can go back and teach the rest. If one of you guys is interested you'll need a cable, laptop and a good token if you are going to use E-Sys 3.22.4 or .5. If you are going to use 3.18.4 and an earlier psdzdata set, I can supply E-Sys, token and the applicable psdzdata for you to use. Let me know if you are interested (by PM or reply) and we'll work out the details. Sean |

I can't get up there in the weekend of April 6/7. How long will you be in Beautiful Moreno Valley? I'm going to buy the hardware and license necessary.

I got my coding done in Orange County. I had the DVD in Motion done. I haven't seen any other F10's in my area in SD, and I frequently commute from South SD to North SD. I've seen a lot of stock f10's, but none that would give me a clue to an f10 enthusiast...

I use teamviewer to remote into your machine while it is connected to your car and we sit on the phone while I walk you through the various steps. To do this, you need to have E-Sys, psdzdata and EDIABAS loaded on your machine. It would save someone having to drive 2 hours. Let me know if you are interested. Sean |

Sean (ImSW1) spent a couple of hours on-line with me last night showing me how to get started coding. I've asked Sean to be available on-line again at 4 pm this Sunday so that we can do some more coding on your cars in a mini-coding meet. This will be in my driveway in Rancho Penasquitos and space and time (4-6:30 pm) are limited so please reply to this thread to indicate your intent to attend. When you come, please bring the coding cheat sheet (attached to this post) with a couple of specific items that you want to try.
As an example of how much time it may take, Sean spent 49 minutes on the phone with me to code three functions. We should be able to move more quickly on Sunday because the learning curve was steep, but not too high and now I have a better idea of what I am doing. Sean will watch over our shoulders, for a while, via teamviewer to make sure we don't make any horrendous mistakes. We are doing this in my driveway this time so that I have a known wi-fi signal and power for the laptop while Sean is connected to it. Future code meets can be anywhere. This will be the start of a San Diego coding group. As we gain experience we can continue to share knowledge and lessons-learned with regular meetings. If you plan to come, please do two things: Reply to this thread with your car's build date, FXX model, and software levels (example of my car follows), and also PM to me so that I can send to you my address. My Car example: Build date 3-2011, F10, Integration Plant F010-11-03-502, I-Level HO F010-12-11-503. (I had to get the software build levels from my dealership by a key-fob readout. We'll be able to read your software level real-time on Sunday if you don't have it handy or cannot get it before then). Last edited by MWPos; 04-05-2013 at 12:19 PM.. |

I'm in for sure!
MWPos, it was a pleasure getting you started on coding your car so it's the way you want it and not the cookie cutter requirements that BMW imposes on us. No time limit on Sunday. I'll hang on as long is necessary, but I know MWPos already has a firm grip on what he's doing. Sean |
