Best Wheel Wash?
I'm lazy the part I hate cleaning the most on my car is the wheels. What wheel cleaner cleans the best and gets the most brake dust off? Every brand of wheel cleaner I've ever used does pretty much nothing and I have to clean them the old fashioned way.

I was shocked how clean it got my rims. Kind of expensive as I only got 2 wheel washes out of 1 bottle, but totally worth it if you hate sitting on a bucket and scrubbing your wheels with a wheel brush. Thanks!

Haven't used the Sonax but I've been using Optimum Power Clean I pre-mix into a dual action spray bottle along with a wheel detailer brush (like above) and a boar's hair brush for the front of the wheel. I have similar results to what's shown above. The EZDetail brush is great for getting inside the wheel, around the caliper, behind the wheel spokes, and cleaning the rotor.

There's no way dirt & brake dust will remove itself but Bilbery Wheel Cleaner by ValetPRO makeS the job easier. Spray it on, let it soak, agitate with a brush and then rinse off ...

Here's my opinion which is only based on one experience and talking to others. I used a Meguiars cleaner for a year + and three of my four center caps started emitting some kind of "gum". I assume it was a glue. Since it was three of four I can only assume it was the wheel cleaner that did it. There was never any affect on the wheel finish that I could see. When I saw the affect on the caps, I stopped and went back to good old fashioned soap. I have discussed this subject with many others and the consensus seems to be "if it is strong enough to eat off brake dust, it has got to be doing collateral damage elsewhere with prolonged use". I'm sure the various manufactures will say oh no we have that figured out with our product. Not sure I would buy that argument. Just my .02 cents.

I have OEM 350m wheels for summer and some.... god knows what aftermarket wheels for winter setup. Both seems fine, but can't say what it will do to other wheels. Last edited by LiveLarger; 04-05-2013 at 05:13 PM.. |
