Night Mode on Professional SatNav
I have now had my BMW for two years and did not realise, until today, that because I had ticked the Traffic Info setting on the Professional SatNav Options; I have been stuck with the dull grayscale map.
Now that I have unticked the Traffic Info display; I have NIGHT MODE in the evenings [colourful route with dusk night sky/stars] and DAY MODE which is more colourful. DOH! [Why must I have Traffic Info set off to get this, I have no idea but it is on the latest 640d Convertible as well.] |

I have a 2011...I have the traffic stuff enabled and it switches between day and night mode. All it may take is a s/w update. Check with your service center. I picked mine up in Germany, and it worked the same there. I was told they had to reprogram it with the NA maps when it was redelivered to me at home, but both continents' mode of operation is the same, at least on my 2011.

There are two traffic selections. One is to allow traffic updates and the other is to show traffic on the map. If you want your maps to switch from night to day, you have to have the show traffic on maps unchecked.
