2014 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix
I think we should have back to back weekends for season opener~
The new sound of F1 is kind of forgettable. Its not "that" bad IMO. As things stood from Australia, the hot and humid SE Asia temperature won't be Renault powered team's best friend. They will have a hard time to keep the engine cool and all the sensors and all the parts working in harmony like Mercedes. Race Date: 30 Mar 2014 Circuit Name: Sepang International Circuit First Grand Prix: 1999 Number of Laps: 56 Circuit Length: 5.543 km Race Distance: 310.408 km Lap Record: 1:34.223 - JP Montoya (2004) Tire Compounds Provided: Prime: Hard (Orange) Option: Medium (White) Rain: Cinturato Intermediate (Green) / Cinturato Wet (Blue) F1 TIMETABLE (Kuala Lumpur Local Time) Fri 28 March 2014 Practice 1 10:00 - 11:30 Practice 2 14:00 - 15:30 Sat 29 March 2014 Practice 3 13:00 - 14:00 Qualifying 16:00 Sun 30 March 2014 Race 16:00 Fri 28 March 2014 (Pacific Time) Practice 1 (Thu) 19:00 - 20:30 Practice 2 (Thu) 23:00 - (Fri) 00:30 Sat 29 March 2014 Practice 3 (Fri) 22:00 - 23:00 Qualifying (Sat) 01:00 Sun 30 March 2014 Race 01:00 Fri 28 March 2014 (Eastern Time) Practice 1 (Thu) 22:00 - 23:30 Practice 2 (Fri) 02:00 - 03:30 Sat 29 March 2014 Practice 3 01:00 - 02:00 Qualifying 04:00 Sun 30 March 2014 Race 04:00

Not directly Sepang-related but these are pretty cool - watch the RBR video footage:

I'm in. Does anyone have NBCSN's broadcast info? I hope they have an encore presentation as most of those times are late night/early morning.

Looks like all the entire race weekend will be aired live with no replay. Malaysia Grand Prix (EST) Friday, March 28 - 2:00 a.m. -- Malaysia Grand Prix - Practice #2 (NBCSN) Saturday, March 29 - 4:00 a.m. -- Malaysia Grand Prix - Qualifying (NBCSN) Sunday, March 30 - 3:30 a.m. -- Malaysia Grand Prix - Race (NBCSN) Guess I'll have to stay away from automotive media until a torrent pops up. No DVR. |

Good article about the sound and noise issue:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/mot...could-sue.html I guess the loudest sound came from an old V10 that was taking fans on slow laps around the track |

Passing this article along because I'm in so much agreement : http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/formula1/26666624 excerpts: "I'm blown away to learn people were spending hundreds of pounds to attend a race just to hear a really loud noise." and more... "When this writer was growing up, and falling in love with F1, it was some years before I even saw an F1 car live. I was captivated by the essence of the sport - the unbelievable skill and bravery of the drivers, the beauty and magnificence of the cars, the thrill of the racing." Not my words (obviously) but they echo how I too was drawn to F1...and this was from just reading about F1 in the mags. Saw my first F1 race in 1965, will be in Montreal this June. |
