msport seats creaking plastics
Can anyone tell me how to stop the creaking and cracking noses the plastic seat sides make at the base of the seats in my car? This is driving me insane, it sounds like a korean built shitbox from the 80's. In fact its emabarassing when you have people in the car. Whenever you touch the plastics or move in your seat it creaks and groans. Its not the leather its the plastics themselves.
Any suggestions? Sprays, removal, revised part. |

I would suggest taking it back to the dealer if you cannot find the source yourself.
Does it creak when you move around in the seat then? possible to get someone else to sit in whilst you try and troubleshoot? |

Unless you're grossly obese, I agree with taking it back to the dealer.

I had the same annoying cracking when i first bought the f10 but it went away after a month or two. dont worry about it. i guess it is about the weight resistance that seats adapt with plasticswith time. hope this helps.

If the dealer doesn't to do anything about it, I'd raise with BMW. They should deal with these sort of things. BMW engineer the car to quiet and refined and they should be creak and rattle free.
If you wanted a car with creaks and rattles, you'd buy a FSO pokenez! Don't know what one of those is, have a lok at this, Jeremy Clarkson (Top gear) reviewing one. |

Nice bump but did anyone ever fix this?
Mine does it and its driving me insane, both front seats. I had hoped a bit of felt between leather and plastic would fix it, but it seems to be the entire plastic cover on the side of the seat that creaks like crazy. I can't take it to the dealer because the UK equivalent of the CPO warranty specifically excludes trim, so I'm on my own with this. I've gotta fix it because its driving me insane. |

I checked my Dads car the other day - his has exactly the same horribly squeeky plastic but because he doesn't have sport seats, the seat bolster doesn't squash against the plastics therefore it doesn't creak.
It sounds like it's more a design flaw? Does anyone have creaky free Sport seats? |

My car is in for something else and I've got a 520d M Sport loaner. Wow, I'd forgotten how nice it is to drive a 5 Series WITHOUT squeeky seats. This one is totally silent.
I *have* to fix this on mine. How do I remove the seat base itself? I can't see how it comes off. |

2013 MSport, and the car has never shown the slighest tendency to creak, rattle, or shake. I have never driven a more solid car.
Now, my 2005 E60, let's talk about creaks.

Sounds terribly annoying. Mine is all of 6 months old, so I can't really say - but so far so good. I have the multi-contour seats.

Remember, the sport seats in question are not an option in the US.
BTW, I got no creaking, but I also don't have leather.

I have the HK upgraded sound system, which has subs under the seats. I do like my music loud, I think the bass was responsible for loosening the panels on my car...
However could be wrong and may just be the design on earlier cars that has now been rectified
