Need advice on tires for 20x10.5 rears
I have a '12 550i M sport with h&r springs and 20x9/10.5 BBS CH-R's. I bought the car with a pair of 305/30/20 pirelli p zeros on the back and 265/35/20 p zeros on front. I needed new rears so bought a used pair of 305/30/20 p zeros (same tread and all) and had them installed. They were noticeably wider and now rub my fender badly on most bumps. What do y'all suggest in order to eliminate the rubbing? I've never seen a tire manufacture make different sized tires that are labeled identically.

Most uses 285, and some uses 295.

Even on a 10.5" rim? I've had Nitto 555 tires on previous cars and loved them. Does anyone have experience running a 285/30/20 on a 10.5" rim? I'm open to tire suggestions.
Some I know of: Toyo Proxes 4 Plus 295/30/20 Nitto 555 285/30/20 |

I appreciate the input, I see those only come in a 285/30/20. I don't want any rubbing at all, but i figured my rim would stick out with a 285. Anyone have pictures of a 285/30/20 hankook on a 10.5" wide rim?

They're going to rub. I put 295/30/20 PSS on my 10.5 rims and they rub on a big bump.
I had to to deal with the 285/30/20 on the rim and have it sticking out a little. |

I ordered 295/30/20 Toyo Proxes 4 Plus. Not doing much aggressive driving right now so didn't need to spend the extra bucks on the PSS's. Hoping to get a good fit and decent ride.

I would rather them not rub. I didn't want any tire damage, and I have 3 children and didn't want it rubbing on trips with a full trunk. My car isn't lowered either. I have a feeling the 295s on H&Rs are going to rub a lot. They looked great on the rim, but not worth the worry. The 285s don't look bad, just very aggressive!

I had 305/30/20 p zeros on before and they didn't rub a bit. But the 305/30/20 p zeros I bought from a guy who had them on his Ferrari wouldn't let me go over the slightest bump. They are noticeably wider than the previous 305/30/20 of the same tire on before....just weird. Hopefully these won't rub, I was thinking 295/30/20 was playing it safe

That is very strange that the same size tire on the same size rim would be different. Hope it works out. My 295's PSS looked good on the rim, but I also didn't like the fact that the tire stuck out further than the fender. At least with the 285s, they tuck underneath the fender.

Do you have the same offset as the BBS CH-R?

285's are fine with 10.5. I wouldn't go any wider in the back because your wheels are ET35 in the back which are pretty aggressive. 285 on that wheel will have a very very slight stretch look but it looks perfectly fine.
Keep in mind that you might also need to change your front tires because the overall diameter of your tires will be different if you keep running 265 in the front with 285's in the back. Traditional F10 (non M5) tire combos are: 245F and 285R or 255F with 285/295R

Would running 27.3" front and 27" back tires affect anything? I wasn't aware of any issues coming from different diameter front and back. I've always had an inch higher in the rear on muscle cars.
Also, yes the Pirelli P Zero 305/30/20 that I had on before fit perfectly. No rubbing and fit the wheel in a flush manner. The 2nd pair of 305/30/20 p zeros I tried were made for Ferraris. Just strange there is that big of a difference between two of the same model and labeled size. |

I had the Toyo Proxe 4 Plus 295/30/20 installed today. Absolutely love them and they're the perfect fit for my setup. I'll post again in a week after I go through a few heat cycles and give them a go. My pirellis did a good job handling the 500+hp. I'm anxious to see how these will perform in a straight line and twisties.

I'm impressed with these toyos, especially for the price. Haven't spent much highway time on them but a couple of pulls from 30-80. Normal wheel spin on the hit, but seemed to get traction quickly and continue fighting for grip. I'd say they give similar dry traction to that of the P zero. And for the advertised tread life, I don't see how these aren't on every non Michelin PSS equipped car. Tires look like they belong on it and have a nice look to the tread. I'll email pictures to anyone wondering how they look.
