Used JB4 Issues
Guys, any reasons to not buy a used JB4, especially since you can't get them mailed to us here in Ca. anymore?

There are a few reasons but none so significant that would make me not consider a good used Jb4. Apart from the risk of buying used electronics in general there isn't to much to worry about. I just bought a jb4 and had it installed to check if it worked and everything checked out. If you decide to buy one, just make sure the wires are in good condition. I believe you can always cut the damaged section of the wires and solder or splice in extensions (as this is what I did when working on my previous car's electronics without issues) but don't quote me on that.

@top6491, as long as the purchase term is that you can return it if it doesn't work, then you are good.
To tell you the truth, used electronics is very hard to tell what is the condition. It could have been shorted or soaked, you wouldn't know until you plug it in and it may damage your car or sensors at the very least.

Installed last night with no issues, no warning messages. Seems to have increased power a bit, but the jury is still out on whether this is worth the risk, new or used.

So far I'm impressed. Especially in that I can still get 31+ MPG on the freeway in Eco mode and doing 70 mph. Definitely worth the price.
