I got it from Schmiedmann website.
I found the part number from realoem.com for the M5 M Performance steering wheel. Its without the race display as wasn't sure that version would work and was too expensive anyway. Original set up As you can see I have already changed the gear shifter to CF M Performance version. First job is to disconnect the battery, located in the trunk under the carpet where the spare wheel would usually be.

Disconnect negative side of battery, this to to stop the horn going when trying to remove the airbag and also inadvertently firing the airbag off

Next step remove the airbag
There are two holes, one either side of the airbag. Insert a flat head screw driver to push in to release the springs holding the airbag. Pull the airbag at the same time. This is a bit of a faff, took me a while to eventually get it off 20 mins.

Once the air bag is released disconnect it and remove.
Then you will see the wiring harness for paddles and controls. Disconnect everything.

Undo the two screws securing the trim piece and also the one screw at the bottom at the back on the rear cover to remove the trim piece.
Then unscrew the paddles and disconnect at the blue connection to fully remove. Then unscrew the controls on each side. Then undo main bolt in centre. This will allow the wheel to be fully removed.

I used all original items form existing steering wheel.
Only change out is the alcantara wheel and CF trim piece. Total time to complete was an hour. All I need to do next is get CF interior trim to match or move back to the aluminium to replace the wood.

I also needed the M5 rear cover which I forgot. But is now in place.
Was only an extra £34. I was going to change paddle shifters for M5 but they cost £284 for the set. So it's a no on that one. I also changed back the aluminium trim from the wood as it didn't really go with the interior theme.
