Waiting for 2016 535i
Hello everyone I am new to this site and hoping to get some advice. My car arrived at the Baltimore port on June 19 and was scheduled to be at the dealership on June 24. I found out on June 22 that it was being delayed to repair a crankshaft seal. Is this serious and should I be concerned? No new delivery date has been given. Should I ask for an extended warranty? This is my first time to own a BMW. I drove a Volvo S80 that needed a transmission before 30,000 miles. It was out of warranty because I had it more than 3 years. I don't want another headache. Thanks for any help.

I'd say yes on the extended warranty, it's not necessarily that the cars are built better or worse but just the fact that there are so many damn parts that it increases the sheer volume of things that could go wrong. Just make sure you've got good coverage through the amount of time you think you'll own the car for (you can always buy the extended warranty later!)
