Quick Diffuser Question - 535dx With CA
Hey guys
Quick question regarding my options for an ungraded diffuser. I have a 2016 535d xdrive with the M Sport package. I don't see an option for the M Performance diffuser that fits the diesel (as I only have exhaust on one side, unlike gas 535s). Would the one for the 528 fit my car? Also, I have comfort access, with that need to be modified to fit a new diffuser? Open to either regular or Carbon fiber diffusers. Any help is greatly appreciated, I searched with little success. It's a lease so I have no interest in adding dual side exhaust. Here's the car so far, and I have an OEM Carbon fiber trunk spoiler in the mail as we speak Thanks!

Looks nice. For a single side exhaust it doesn't have the in your face look like a lot of the M5 ones do, fits it well.
Great color BTW. I really need an M rear bumper for my 550i... Matt

You should definitely upgrade bumpers, you have some great diffuser options with the 550

Got it from a forum member in the classifieds, if anyone needs one he may have more, PM me if you want his contact info / more info on how install went. Fitment is pretty good, I mainly bought it to make sure I liked the look, as I will probably buy the OEM one after the winter. Couldn't beat the price, much better than risking 450-500 for a piece of black plastic
Edit: here's a better shot, this was before I got it sitting just how I wanted but i think it makes a big difference over stock

I actually just bought what looks to be the exact diffuser for my 528i.
I purchased it off ebay from a pretty well known vendor (Selma) . Can't really go wrong for $150usd shipped! Happy yo see someone else with it as I had yet to see a picture of it installed. Thanks for sharing! |

Hey all,
Thought I'd share some pictures here of what thebmwjunkiee and I have figured out is the same lip made from the same mold. We both encountered some issues with fitment where the diffuser seemed to be just a tad short and some of the tabs in the corners/ends were flat with no ridge to catch anything (odd they would do it like this really). Anyway, after fiddling with it for a while, I got an OK fit with mine. It still needs a bit of work but i figured i'll get the shop to work on it when I go in to get some parts painted (front lip, side skirt extensions). On the passenger side, there was just enough overlapping on the bottom b/w the diffuser and the adjacent body panel so that allowed me to drill a small hole and add another pin which worked out quite well. Unfortunately, there isn't the ability to do that on the driver/exhuast side so ill see if the shop has any ideas. I've also thought about possibly painting this diffuser as well. But I can't decide, aesthetically, whether I should match the entire diffuser with the body colour, or if I can paint a part of it and leave part of it this finish (my f30 oem m performance diffuser came with just the fins left in the raw finish while the rest of it was body colour). Any input would be great! And below are some pics: |

Figured I'd provide an update as I ended up having my rear diffuser (and my front lip) painted and installed by a shop today.
The shop ended up getting the diffuser to fit about 95%. I'm extremely happy with the way it ended up fitting and would buy this diffuser again in a heartbeat. The only shortfal of it is that you can see in the up close images that the two bottom corners are a tad bit short of the the bumper so they don't line up perfectly. But this is fairly minor in my opinion because you're usually looking down at the car and will most often not notice this. As well, for the price difference compared to an OEM one, i'll take it this replica anyday. I also got it painted. I chose to go with body colour around the outer parts (carbon black) and then a gloss black for the fin section to match the shadow line trim. I did somethign similar with my front lip as well (lower diffuser portion in gloss black and the upper section body colour). In most crappy lighting/overcast days, and when the car is dirty, its hard to see the contrast between the carbon black and gloss black. But on a sunny day or when the car is freshly cleaned, you definitely see the contrast between the two colours and it looks pretty damn cool!! |

Good job, same as the OEM m performance diffuser.
Much better than stock.

Looks great, digging the paint. Glad they were able to get it a bit more secure though. If you get a second, can you shoot me a PM if you have any tips regarding what they did? I'm also very glad I went with this diffuser, can't complain given the price

Sorry to say, but the opening for the tips on that replica diffuser is wrong.
They have clearly just replicated the left opening on the 550i diffuser, and not the opening for the 528i diffuser. For some it's a minor detail, but for me it's the reason to buy OEM parts. Here's my f10 with the OEM M Performance diffuser.

The oem one looks much better for sure!! But yah they did reply a the left opening of the 550...then again, it is a replica haha For me, at $150 shipped, I'm OK with it. At the end of the day it's a lease I'll be keeping for about 2 years or But damnit now it does bug me a bit after knowing the difference between this and oem hahahaha |
