BMW service in Northern NJ

Where do you go for your service? I am getting increasingly tired of the ineptness of the SAs at my dealership. The dealership is extremely convenient for me, but I just can't handle them anymore. Today I brought my wife's X5 in for the front drive shaft recall. Four hours later I get a call to tell me that they did not have the part and it won't be in until next week. You think that they would have checked or confirmed this 4 days ago when I made the appointment? Nope. They just denied that they confirmed any appointments for recall work when the manager asked them when I was in his office. I have to say, he was visibly annoyed at his people and offer pickup and delivery of the X5 from and to anywhere in addition to a detail when the part did come in. However, I am not sure that I want to deal with these people anymore. For now I would leave the dealership nameless.

So, the question is, where do you go for service and warranty work?

I forgot t also add, my SA told me that there was the starting of an oil leak around the filter. I questioned if they did it or make a mess when they changed the oil last last month...

I've been taking my E46 M3, E70, and F10 to Park Ave for years with no issues.

Worst I've had is Difeo aka BMW Tenfaly, eff that place.

Do you have to deal with the constant up-sell on service? Like hey, the mechanic recommends that....

Not really, I take it in for the service it needs and it is done, and I go home to more important things in life.

For me that's exactly what I want out of my dealership.

Yep, do you go there? I have my 3rd car (2 for me and 1 for the wife) in the past 10 years from there. I used to be really happy with their service, but all but one of the SAs that I have worked with in the past 3 years have been a problem. Whenever I show up, the one where I have had a good experience never seems to be there.

The sales guy that I worked with left and while he was there had advised me that management was pushing the SAs hard to nickel and dime everything. It pisses me off to have to deal with a hard sell on services that are not really needed.

Just an update from my side. I ended up taking the wife's X5 to Park Ave and the service was fantastic. The only negative is that I am even more pissed at Open Road/Roxbury as some additional work with the replacement of her fuel pump which they told we was not under warranty until it completed failed, the SA at Park Ave had fixed under warranty!

I think you'll be really happy with Park Ave. in the long run. I had recently purchased my car from there and had a great experience. I have visited a few northern/western NJ dealerships & was disappointed with most. Things would either not get fixed properly the first time or an issue from thin air would be created. Another good thing I heard about Park Ave is that they are not big sticklers with after-market mod work on warranty applicable machines.. so another plus.

I actually just learned this last week from them. I spoke with their Dianan specialist and he said that as long as you don't do something "extreme" like a muffler delete, they are ok with a new exhaust, any brand, and the original warranty is not effected. They would even install any exhaust if I brought one in to them.
