528i miles per tank
So far I've filled up my tank 3 times and all 3 times it displayed around 430 miles per tank. However, on all 3 occasions I actually only got around 360 miles. I drive 50/50 city/hwy. Why is the calculation so far off? Is the 430 miles based on the max I can get on highway driving only?

This gets recalculated frequently based on the type of driving you do.
I'm not sure if it's F10 or another manual I read in the past, but software algorithm goes something like "check the type of driving/consumption every 15(ish) miles, check the amount of gas left, and estimate the range based on that". Logically if you're cruising at 65mph for hours, the estimate will be "better" than stop and go driving. It works exactly the same in every vehicle, regardless of brand. |

As for algorithm used, frequency of check of course varies from brand to brand, but same general idea applies. Last edited by Bbb34; 03-30-2017 at 01:17 PM.. |
