The M5 diffuser will not fit with the factory 550 tips. You can cut them off and adjust the muffler a bit if you need to fit the diffuser first and then fit the mufflers.

I ordered one of the eBay carbon diffusers ("v-style"). Does anyone have experience with getting comfort access to work with that?
The seller told me that it won't work because the CF blocks the signal, but something tells me someone has made some mods for it to work. I'm sure I'm not the only one in this boat! Thanks in advance! |

Selling brand new M5 Diffuser for F10 + Vorsteiner Exhaust
The diffuser is brand new in the box.
The exhaust is used and does not have the Y pipe but I have the mufflers and rest of piping. Also for sale are barely used H&R lowering springs. DM for details. |

Just a note: the 3 bolts/screws under each rear wheel fender are really annoying to reach, you'd have to take off both rear wheels to reach them unless you have a flexible ratchet wrench. Tried today and that was the part that got me stuck. =/

Bringing back this old post since I've recently just installed an M5 diffuser on my 2013 528i w/ M-Sport Package WITHOUT COMFORT ACCESS and there were some questions that were still unanswered for me before I installed it. To answer one question many have asked, the removal of the bumper will likely still be necessary even if you do not have comfort access. I didn't have comfort access however I did have to remove my bumper and replace the old adapter with the M5 adapter. In regards to the prior posts regarding removal of the bumper, it is true that only 4 screws needed to be removed: 3 under the wheel well, and one located underneath the drip trim panel on the taillight. I was fearful of removing the bumper however I was able to do it after some time, with the help of someone else and with enough force pulling back. Once that was done, I was able to get into the adapter that needed to be replaced. IMPORTANT TIP: you can use a trim removing tool, one that's headed with a thick triangle to remove the series of tabs on the old adapter. I didn't know this prior and broke one of the tabs trying to pull it out, if you have the right tool, you can insert it into each of the tabs to snap them free from the metal part of the bumper. After removing the adapter, I was able to easily snap in the new M5 adapter. Since I don't have CA, all I needed to do was fit the TPMS sensor and mounted this behind the adapter in a small slot with some double sided tape. Snapped the bumper back into place, screwed it in, and then was able to smoothly install my M5 diffuser. I have my quad Remus Exhaust ready to be installed sometime this week and I couldn't be more excited!

I know this is an old post but I was wondering if someone can give me some insight. I just replaced the diffuser, only issue is now the comfort access isnt working. Is comfort access the strip tacked down by those push in pins? If its somewhat loose (some of the push in pins broke), could that be the culprit?

Alan, you had a fantastic post on how to add an M5 diffuser to an M-sport F10.
I have a follow up question on this topic (sorry, I know it's been covered in various degrees). If I remove the 535i M-sport rear bumper Absorber and replace it with the M5 Absorber, will I be able to apply a Carbon Fiber M5 diffuser from brands like RKP or 3D Design? It seems clear by your post the OEM M5 diffuser would work no problem. |

The original link for the web site to order the diffuser and insert together is not working..
I wonder if you need: Diffuser----- 51128050480 Adapter------51128053585 Insert--------51128038985 or just Diffuser and adapter for comfort access? 2014 535 M sport here with comfort access. Thanks! |

Sorry to bump an old thread!
I am in process of installing a 3D Design diffuser which was meant for an M5 on my factory M Sport rear bumper. If I do nothing to do the Comfort Access module and antennas and TPMS module i.e. leave all it alone, will most aftermarket diffuser clear the non-M5 adapter to reinstall? I think yes except then CA signal will be blocked? Thanks! Edit: reading more it looks like the original adapter will not fit due to modules blocking the M5 style diffusers. Edit 2: wanted to confirm with M5 adapter + aftermarket M5 diffuser, it all went back on easily and Comfort Access works like before. Like others I installed both top and bottom CA antenna into the M5 adapter then taped both the TPMS and CA module behind the metal crash bar. My car is a 528xi with factory M Sport + 3D Design diffuser meant for M5 painted black. Note for any N20 owners you’ll need to notch the diffuser due to width of factory muffler (see pic with blue tape). |
