I will see if its on the paperwork this week (have not been on here much due to work getting crazy) - I gave them my VIN to order it but its xdrive (i believe the non awd motor does not have the massive hole going through the bottom for the front driveshaft/axle .

Just an update - Drove the 550 from Boston to South Carolina over Thanksgiving and really like the way it drives compared to my now sold 3 series. Even with the tune on the n54 the 550 has much more torque plus all the dynamic/adaptive wizardry helps to mask the weight.
Had no issues at all; once back finally decided to swap out the rusty brakes on all 4 corners and dirty floor mats. Went with the FCP Euro kit consisting of zimmerman rotors/Akebono ceramic pads combo to keep the dust down. Will see how much of the initial bite is lost but anything is better than rusty rotors from sitting for so long. For the mats I took a chance and ordered them direct from an alibaba supplier - surprised at the quality and fairly good fit. I wanted a liner with removable mats given the nasty northeast winters. Only saw a few (expensive) options until I found the ones ordered on Alibaba. Only gripe was shipping was more than the unit cost for the mats. When things warm up again - will work on restoring the curb rash rims and respraying the front bumper cover. |

Very Nice Job! Back in July the N63 in my 550i also seized. After the initial frustration I decided to tackle the job myself. I found your post and figured I could do the same. I bought a new engine from BMW and began to tear the car apart and get ready for the swap. I took my time (didn't have a lot anyways) and finished the swap 2 weeks ago. Car fired right up and is running smoother than ever. Thanks for your post, it helped me feel confident I could do it as well.

You all have made me a believer that BMW F10s are the new euro muscle car if a person can pull off this engine swap. Don't get caught up in the "might as well" rabbit hole. The 550i with a simple tune is an amazing car. Make it bullit proof within safe parameters. Do keep a picture record this is an epic build for sure. Go Patriots!
