0w40 or 0w30 for n63tu?
This will be my first diy oil change. Dealer has been using 5w30 but im looking to switch. Are most recommending 0w40? Liqui molly seems to be very popular. I live in NYC.

Not sure if that's the best oil weight to use because these cars require a lot of lubrication, and a light weight oil will not provide that. I would stick with the oem spec. Liqui moly however is a great synthetic oil to use. I use their 5w-30 special tec in all of my cars

The 550i LCI (n63tu) owners manual calls out 0w40, 0w30, 5w40 and 5w30 as being acceptable. Still needs to meet LL-01 or LL-01 FE, or LL-14 FE+. I have also seen from other posts that LL-04 is acceptable.
FE is fuel efficient. |
