F10 N55 VRSF Intercooler Pre-release Install And Review!
Re-posting this for our good buddy Carl who was gracious enough to post a review of the intercooler:
*I'm going to preface this by letting you know that I was chose to test the first ever VRSF HD Core intercooler for the N55 F10. Since this intercooler has not been officially released yet, I can not share the pictures of it. Once Tiago and VRSF does their official release, I will update with my pictures.* Test car - 2012 BMW 535ix FBO, Pure Stage 2 Turbo on the conservative 93 tune of about 20psi. ***THE RESULTS*** *STOCK* -2nd-5th Gear Pull. 52 degree ambient temp. 2,500rpm to redline Iats started at 66 degrees and rose to 144 degrees. The car felt sluggish on the top end and started pulling timing, because of the very high Iats. -4th Gear Pull. 52 degree ambient. 2,500rpm to redline Iats started at 58 degrees and rose to 93 degrees. *VRSF* -2nd-5th Gear Pull. 54 degree ambient. 2,500rpm-redline Iats started 60 degrees and only rose to 63 degrees. -4th Gear Pull. 48 degree ambient 2,500rpm to redline Iats started at 59 degrees, dropped to 50 degrees, then rose to 52 degrees at redline. *Conclusion* The new VRSF HD CORE INTERCOOLER for the F10 N55 is by far the the best option on the market!!! During the 4th gear pull, iats actually dropped by 10 degrees during the pull and only raised a few more at redline. Thats a -45 degree difference over stock. The 2nd-5th gear log is amazing. My iats now only rose 3 degrees! 3!! That's a -75 degree difference over stock!! The car felt more alive, timing stayed up, everything just felt tighter. There is not an increase in lag. The turbo came on almost quicker. I would reccomend this intercooler to everyone with a F10 N55! You can not beat it! *Install* 1. Remove all bolts to your undertray and then remove the undertray . 2. Remove the bolt on each side of the intercooler bracket located towards the front of the car under the radiator. 3. Using a pick or flat head screw driver, pop up the clips on the intercooler. 4. Work the intercooler out and down. Be sure to be careful of your coolant hoses. 5. Slide the VRSF Intercooler back up into place using the same method you used to get the OEM one out. 6. Pop both hoses into the end tanks of the intercooler and make sure they are clicked into place. 7. Install the included intercooler brackets. 8. Install undertray. 9. Check for boost leaks. 10. Let the Golden Eagles sing! |

Wagner makes a very high quality product and we have nothing but good things to say about them.
With that said, the VRSF is a no compromise solution. I can personally guarantee this intercooler will perform as well or better than the Wagner based on our extensive testing and revisions. Both VRSF and Wagner intercoolers utilize CFD optimized cast end tanks which a lot of other guys skimp out on and both offer a great balance between find spacing and density which aids in heat dissipation as well as internal heat absorption. Either option will perform well on your N55 F10 Last edited by Tiago@VRSF; 12-14-2018 at 10:39 PM.. |
