TPMS Sensors not regognised
OK, so I have just put a set of winter wheels on a 2016 LCI F10, the wheels had a set of TPMS sensors installed in them (The grey valve/grey stems). I have tried resetting the tyre monitoring system in the idrive and says it's not recognised.
So my question is do I take it to a Kwikfit (or similar) and get them to reprogramme - Will this mean they have to reprogramme the car/idrive too, and would it forget my summer sensors? Can I do anything myself? Any help would be appreciated |

The sensors will need coding to YOUR car - if the wheels were bought new, they will be uncoded and any good indy (less likely kwik-sh*t) should be able to do it.
If from another car, I think they can be coded to a new vehicle but not 100% sure. Again, ask your local indy. I bought sensors thru Selectatyre to go onto my winter wheels from my F30 (no TPMS) when I bought the F11. They fitted and coded them when they swapped the winter set on. |

Depends if the sensors are genuine BMW ones or not. I bought genuine BMW ones for a set of winter wheels for my 2015 F10 LCI. Plug and play, no coding required.

You do not need to code genuine TPMS sensors to a specific car.

What error are you getting in the idrive?
I had either no reading at all, or a spurious reading (a whole 1 bar below actual and 20degrees Celsius below actual) I had to recode the module but mine is a retrofit using a used module Please don't take your car to shitfit, find a good reputable local/independent tyre shop. The vast majority will have equipment to read your sensors |
