This week I flashed Stage 2 initially and kept it for less than a couple days. Three days ago I switched to Stage 3.

After flashing Stage 3 and doing the 50-mile break-in, I briefly went into S/Sport+ mode. At that time I was already going around 45 mph before switching into S/Sport+ mode. And from quick glances to my cluster I remember the gear downshifting, the RPMs staying above 4000 RPM, and the eventual upshift happening more quickly when I started to accelerate. I think I remember my uphifts happening very close to or at redline. In any event, my car felt like a different machine. I only stayed in S/Sport+ for less than a minute though.

In Stage 3 with S/Sport+ mode engaged, the engine was of course louder (I normally keep my RPMs around 2500 so for me anything above 2500 is going to make my engine seem louder).

S/Sport+ in Stage 3 makes my car's acceleration *feel* faster than I ever imagined it could feel. But I won't be using that mode too often in Stage 3 because I don't want to wear out my transmission and engine any sooner. For me, D/Comfort is more than enough for regular driving, especially on highways. And S/Sport for those few times I need a quicker burst of acceleration.

As side note, I don't remember the RPMs behaving in Stage 2 S/Sport+, as they do in Stage 3 S/Sport+.

EDIT: I do have the BM3 Stage-1 91 Octane flash so my experience might be different from a car that doesn't have a DME flash.

I started reading the manual, and it looks like for the 6spd, you can adjust the shift points in each gear individually, i.e. there are 6 sliders, each with a + or -, it allows you to adjust the shift rpm in each gear. It is in percentage, so if it shifts into 6th gear at 40 and you add 10%, it would shift at 44 under that same condition. I'm wondering when they will add this function to the 8HP versions.

It's worth noting that the xHP documentation for the 8 speed says explicitly that Stage 3 is just like Stage 2 except that it keeps the revs high for "roll racing" and "track". Probably only in Sport or Sport+.

So, if you don't like that, just use Stage 2 and it should be otherwise identical.

I think that's exactly right. I don't have sport+ and messaged them about whether stage 3 does anything for me and they said no, stage 2 and 3 are identical if you don't have sport+

If you have dsc button and you press and hold it for long. It turns into sport oriented chassis and rpms do act differently. If you are cruising in that mode and have your lever to the left to be in S mode than rpm would jump to 5k and stay there.

I learned this yesterday when my logging required to turn off dsc completely.

At least from my experience when dsc is on than in s mode the rpm arr around 3k.

If dsc completely off than rpm jumps to 5k, and I tried this multiple times to verify.

Great find! That put my car in race mode.

My only issue now is that it seems to go out of sport mode when DSC OFF...xhp was supposed to fix that but it doesn't seem to

I think for our cars, lever to the left aka S mode is sports mode and s mode + dsc completely off is the sport+ mode.

New update v1.1 is available. Shifts much better. Shifting in D is stretched to shift a little higher in rpm while S is tamed a tiny bit. I like it better

Got some helpful responses from both MHD and XHP...here's the deal for those of us without sport+:

Going DSC OFF and S mode does put XHP into race mode. However, the stock behavior is to be in comfort mode, and that kills a lot of the MHD benefits you only get in sport.

XHP's stage 2/3 write up says that it allows you to go DSC OFF without changing comfort/sport setting but that doesn't seem true for me.

Agree 1.1 seems better already...nice to have D be a bit more aggressive, and have to use S a little less

DSC

I might have missed this
But what about for those of us with sport plus
What happens when you turn dsc off (completely off - hold for 10 secs)
What mode is it in?

MHD told me stock behavior is Comfort for DSC OFF, I'd assume it'd be the same for you

Can not connect to 11 535 F10

Tried searching using different terms but can't seem to find an answer so I will post up here.

Really interested in purchasing trans tune but I can not get the app to connect to my F10. I have tried multiple types of cables and different OTG adapters as well. Trying to use my Note9 to connect to the car as that's the same phone I use bimmercode with.

What specific cables are you folks using? Am I possibly missing something?

I'm using an S7, and OTG cable I found at a local stationary store, and the K+DCAN cable I originally purchased for my E90.

Strange then. It should work as I am also using K+DCAN cable that I used with my E39.

Just to clarify, steps are:

Download app, connect cable with adapter, ignition on, insert to OBD port, then connect - right?

I've never used android prior to getting a device just for some car apps, so I am no android expert. My revision asks which app should be granted OTG access when I connect the cable. Without a lot of intervention it sorts itself out, but if a setting on your android keeps the OTG set up from being "connected" with the xHP app you could be having an issue.

It pops up for me, but I've always answered "this time only" so it always pops up for every app. I have been dabbling with xHP, MHD, xDelete so I have multiple apps which want OTG access. If you answers "always" at some point, maybe xHP isn't getting connected.

I usually insert into OBD before turning on the ignition, but I don't believe that is a critical sequence.

Would my BM3 S2 tune need to be flashed back to stock before I can connect to my TCU?

Tried many different android phones and different OBD cables that I have previously used to connect with my E39 and XHP does not read at all.

Would really like to purchase the maps but need to make sure to be able to connect before spending $350.

Anyone with any ideas? TIA
