BMW Connected Apps not working?
Hey all,
I knew Connected Drive was flakey, but it downright stopped working. First, I have: BMW F11 (15 plate) with BMW Connected Drive / BMW Apps / Professional Nav iPhone X on iOS12 The issue: When I plug my phone into the car via USB, the car plays audio / album art etc. BMW Connected Drive detects the phone and says 'Apps Loaded' - but no apps are actually loaded; and the BMW Connected app on my phone does not react top my phone being plugged in. If I unregister my car from the Connected app, hit 'Add Vehicle' and plug it in, i get a 'connecting' prompt, and then it fails. I have also tried reinstalling the app, and using my wifes iPhone. I have tried both phones in my wifes BMW F31 (65 plate), and Connected Drive works absolutely fine. Apps load up without a problem. Here is a video of what happens: Any ideas? |

Rang BMW Connected service. Who informed me that you need BMW Online in order for the phone apps feature to work, which is £30 for the year. Disappointing that the marketing material is not very clear. But problem solved now.

Sorry for my intervention to the topic, but I recently bought an used BMW F10, which obviously comes with BMW apps and ConnectedDrive. However, I am not aware of how can I take advantage of it. This subscription you are referring to is it paid monthly or what?

Aubscriptions are billed annually. For BMW Apps you need BMW Onliine, which gets you access to the web, weather, office, apps etc. In the UK it’s arouns £30 per tear |

Any idea why these are my only options in Connected Drive? No apps show as available...
For some reason I can't post a pic... Anyway, my only two options are BMW Connected and BMW Calendar; No music apps appear. |

I have a 2016 535i and it is doing the same thing. If i start one of the music apps (amazon, spotify or iheartradio) before plugging it into the USB port, the music apps will show up. If I just have the BMW Connected App, then the music apps don't show.
I'm planning on stopping by the dealer and talking with one of those BMW Genius people. If I find out anything, I'll post an update. |

I'm also going in Tue to have my SA look at my serpentine belt (shows some sporadic fibers sticking out but no cracking) and I'll ask then. |

Saw the genius today. Apparently I need to plug in the phone, start the Connected App, then start the music app of my choice. That seems to work, albeit a little slowly. Bluetooth works pretty flawlessly (not near as well as the G30 system).

I also have the BMW connected apps, and I couldn't get mine to work too. I called them up and they said that for my model year (2011) it only works with 2G data?? It didn't make sense to me, but that was the reason.

When BMW offered the option to upgrade gratis to the new system for our 2012 I took advantage. Now, APPS works better in the 2012 (CIC) than it does in our 2014 (NBT). I plugged my phone (iPhone 6s+) into the USB, went to connected drive, opened the connected app and voilá, all the apps are displayed. In the 2014 following the same procedure my only options under connected drive are BMW Connected and BMW Calendar. I can get it to work, mostly, like I mentioned above. I may need another trip to the "genius"!
