Backup Camera
Was hoping if anyone could point me in the right direction. I need a backup camera installed on my 535i, 2011. What could be the most economical option?

I had Car Toys in Seattle install a backup camera on my 2014 M235i. Worked great and integrated with my iDrive.
On my wife’s 2012 VW Golf we installed a new radio that had an integrated backup camera. Car Toys also did that install. So talk with your local car audio shop and see what they can do for you. |

There are a bunch of different options out there. Some use wireless cameras which send the video signal to stand alone screen or use your smart phone for the video output. Others are wired.
It depends on how good of a system you want. For some who want economical and are ok with average video quality or intermittent video connection issues, you can easily find a wireless system that fits the bill and can easily be installed by your typical DIYer. I prefer to get a system which won't present any problems. I got my system from Bimmertech and installed it myself. The system integrates into my iDrive system and also has dynamic parking lines which tracks based on the steering angle sensor. I also added a mirror link box which allows me to screen mirror the output of my smart phone onto the iDrive screen. |
