Extended Warranty options with BMW
I contacted the Toco rep that had quoted an Elite Plus policy for me back in April when I got my CPO, and he had quoted a reasonable cost (~$3k) for a 5 yr/ 75k additional mile MBI policy. Today he said that was only for cars under 35k miles (now at 39k) and said he could only offer 36mo/45k mile MBI policy for $88/mo (but will not tell me how many months which is a sleazy used car salesman tactic ).
I also got a quote from Mercury Insurance for a platinum MBI policy (including electronics coverage for Nav/GPS), $100 ded, with up to 100k miles & 48 mo coverage is $5659 for the premium. This seems pretty steep to me. Geico will not quote an MBI policy unless you have your auto insurance through them. I will go by the credit union tomorrow and see if I can get a quote from route 66 to compare. Was there someone here on the forums that could sell a BMW service contract type of policy through their dealership at a good rate? I would like to get a quote if possible... I am still under factory warranty for another month before the CPO kicks in... Last edited by Luky; 10-22-2019 at 08:23 PM.. |

Everyone always says that. Who actually has a policy from route 66? Are there different levels of coverage/deductibles? How about mileage and term? What was the actual cost for it? (And yes I know cost will vary with location, model, mileage etc.).

Go to https://web.route66warranty.com/page/faq, email to sales with your location, and they'll write you back quickly with credit unions in your area that sell it. Then contact the credit union, and they'll send a quote with the various lengths of time and prices. You want "Easy Street" which is the most comprehensive, lists exclusions (typically wear items). I did it all through email/phone, and only had to open an online acct with the credit union with $1 in it (electronic transfer). $2700 for 5 years, 100k (odometer) miles, for my 2013 535i that had 45k at the time.
