What size space saver?
With cars that are running a staggered setup with 19 inch wheels, what is the correct size (part number) for the space saver wheel?
I'm getting confused with the thought of a flat tyre on the two different front and rear wheel sizes. There's probably an obvious answer, I just haven't come across it yet. Thanks for any help Last edited by MrGonko; 09-30-2020 at 07:17 AM.. Reason: spelling |

The spacesaver is 4x17 ET5, part 36116796144. Not sure if BMW will sell you one though, the notes say "Not for retail customers, only for service vehicles and dealer service. No option for storing spare tire in vehicle is available".
The tyre size is 135/90-17

Thank you for the reply.
Out of curiosity, would you know if there's any reason why I couldn't use 4 x 'front' (8.5) wheels rather than 2 x 8.5 and 2 x 9.....? The square set I'm looking at is cheaper than the staggered setup, hence the question. Just wondering if it's possible and if there are any advantages/disadvantages. |

Not so many threads on this board nowadays so you best ask a technical question like that here which is much more lively:

There is no reason you can't use a square set-up - the SE came that way, the M Sports came with a staggered set-up (wider rears).

Personally I prefer a same size front and rear, handling balance can be more neutral. I ran summer staggered on my 330d, square in the winter. The winter wheels made for the best handling balance, no tendency to understeer, like the summer set with wider rear tyres. |
