Took my car (and my wife, of course) camping for the first time this year. 10 miles on a dirt road, so the car wasn't too happy with me. After the torrential rains and windstorm, neither was my wife.

I made the mistake of choosing the shortest distance between Carson City, NV to Leavenworth, WA instead of the fastest. The NAV took me on about 100 miles of Forest Service roads through Oregon! I should have backtracked when I saw the sign that said from that point on the road was no longer maintained in winter! Lesson learned! The car actually did quite well with no dents, dings, scratches or bent wheels despite the HORRIBLE condition of the "road." My wife was a bit concerned when the ONLY vehicles we saw were two Forest Service trucks passing us going opposite direction. Oh yeah, no cell service either! 'Twas more exciting than our dirt road expedition in Mexico.

Installed adjustable front sway bar end links. They're not perfectly neutral yet and I'll need to play around with the washers, but it's a lot better than it used to be with the OEM links. I have M5 front sway bars, and this allows me to put zero preload on the bar while still keeping proper lever arm angles and that jazz.

I just followed the coding lines in expert mode in bimmer code. The bimmer website has the lines of code needed to activate the feature properly in the instrument cluster and heads up display.

For me it was closer to $80 shipped due to where I live ( NY) shipping from Taiwan and choosing the expedited shipping option. The module came in about 9 days. Not bad.

Swapped out the Dinan intercoolers for Alpinas.. still have to test out at warm up, but this took a while. Also replaced the CCVs and Turbo intake plastic ports.

Very interesting mod! Plug and Play between Alpina and Stock? Any remarkable power gain?

Between stock and Alpina/Dinan, they cool air more going into the intake so definitely better. I had Alpina turbos and Dinan inter coolers and Dinan stage 6 tune already. Turns out the Dinan/Alpina are exact same dimensions capacity wise, but the alpina probably allows for a slightly better airflow onto the veins of the inter coolers due to the design. Like the M5 has that black pyramid shaped cover to allow for better air flow onto the inter cooler veins. Also, after long/hard drives, the inter coolers are cool/cold to the touch as compared to stock so there is definitely a difference.

Any reason you didn't go with CSF? I believe the M5 ones they make fit on the N63

1- I'm a sucker for Alpina, and all mods on my car are an attempt to convert my car to a B5.

2- Found a decent deal on the Alpina's since they are rare and not as expensive as the CSF.

3- have not seen anyone do a CSF conversion on the N63 or even an e70 X5M conversion on N63.

Finished up the ceramic controller retrofit. Got to say, the ceramic feels way nicer than the plastic. Especially with the infotainment controller, it has a much more crisp and mechanical turning sound as opposed to a much softer feel on the original. Some might prefer the softer turning feel, but I love how crisp it is now.
