BMW Speaker polarity
Guys
I could do with some help. I am part way through my audio upgrade to an Eton DSP,8 CAN as my car was built with european base audio. I am mounting a HK centre speaker and tweeter, however I would like to know form the picture what is the +ve and what is the -ve terminal as I need to run my own centre channel wire and terminate with a BMW speaker connector. Is the top pin or the lower pin? Note the picture is from a base speaker. Thanks |

Google search "how to check speaker polarity" . You'll see many results that will prove helpful.
Simple test with 9V battery and watching to see which way the speaker cone moves.

Thanks claykin
I wasn't aware you could do that test. I end up removing a rear speaker and cross checking the speaker wire colours (colors) to a wiring diagram. For other users the pin nears the centre of the speaker is the negative. |

I am also doing the exact same upgrade.
I am upgrading from base stereo to a JBL DSP 4086. I am creating pins for all my speakers as I want to keep all wiring as original as possible.
I did a battery test and here are the results. By having the polarity correctly connected to a 1.5V AA battery the speaker cone should extrude outward. |
